Geforce NOW not syncing saves with local version

So: After realizing that my honestly still pretty capable PC (Ryzen 7 3700X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 2080 Super) is absolutely running against a wall with CP 2077 as soon as I turn RTX On on 1440p, I decided to give Geforce NOW with its RTX 3080 tier a try. It works surprisingly well and I'm tempted to give CP 2077 another chance this way.

But: For some reason the saves from my locally installed CP 2077 version don't sync with CP 2077 over Geforce NOW (and the other way round), which is a mystery to me, because other games usually handle this without problems and when the game starts it even specifically says that it's syncing with Steam Cloud.

This not working might be a dealbreaker for me, because if I start playing on Geforce NOW and invest a lot of hours, I would like to be able to continue playing with those saves locally if at some point I'm not subscribed to Geforce NOW anymore.

Any other Geforce NOW users here that have run into the same problem and maybe know a solution? If so, a response would be much appreciated.

I would suggest contacting Nvidia not steam about this. This is a complete guess but do you have it activated for the game?
