Hand to hand combat is disgusting...
I never saw any gameplay mechanic that was implemented as poorly and dumb as in this game...Without implants there is almost no way to defeat any enemy in hand to hand quests, I even switched from hard to easy thinking it will make my life easier, but no...enemies still take almost 100s of hits, while I go down in around 5 hits...block doesn't work, parry system doesn't work still take soooo much damage, it gets infuriating

There's nothing wrong with the combat system itself, it's just the "Beat on the brat" questline. For those you need a dedicated brawler build and even then the last fight will be very difficult. I believe it's by design, not all builds are meant to complete that quest.

The strategy is quite simple. Dodge their attacks and combos, unload a strong attack and a combo then pull back and wait for them to attack again. It's all about dodging, don't bother with blocking, those guys hit like a freight train. It takes a lot of patience but it's not impossible.

Yup. Made a thread about two days ago or something... right now i'm trying to beat Rhino without Implants or whatever and not only takes more time than doing like 5 gigs, it's also stupid how the animations are bad, they sometimes work sometimes doesn't so one time the enemy seems to be stunned yet a surprise punch comes and takes your entire life, the hitboxes suck hella time, the stamina regen isn't that wow even with consumables.

It's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ system that there are only 4 things to do: Punch, dodge, block, parry. Yet two of them are completely bugged and never work. So it's only 2.

Still wondering how this hand to hand system came out like this.... do these guys even test out their games?.....

The boxing ones? Yeah, you have to be chromed to up to make them easy, as you're told at the start of the chain. Sounds like it's very painful still to try doing them without.

There's a few ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with them otherwise but meh, I can't complain too much from my last run through them on hardest difficulty when only the last fight was of any difficulty whatsoever.

I wouldn't call it dumb, but it does need some work. Maybe, for the "Beat on the brat" questline at least, some sort of lock system would be called for, because sometimes it looks like I teleport and then the other guys blinks around a bit... I don't know what it is but something feels off.

About the Rhino fight and the one after that... well, two things: first Rhino should be a romance option and second, you need Gorilla Arms to even have a decent chance of defeating her.

I find all melee to be pretty bad. Using a katana, its kind of forgivable since most times, you can click an enemy once or twice before they react and the encounter is over.

However. yesterday I fought Oda and I thought it would be interesting take him on with a katana. And while I parried away a lot of of his blows and won.. the lack of feedback for blocking/parrying and attacking made it feel like a cointoss.

And the only reason I got so good a parrying and blocking was because of Bug's tutorial. And in my opinion, after getting used to it's quarks, it doesn't feel good. And Im not looking forward to the boxing matches for the same reasons.

That questline is a little tough, the beat on the brat. The first one is relatively easy with the twins, you just have to defeat one of them

The second one with the veteran with the crazy implants is perhaps the toughest one. The fight that's under the bridge, where you can make the guy add the sniper rifle to the bet. The trick to this one is getting a couple hits in, dodge (the guy will do a combo of either four or five moves), then hit him again, rinse, repeat. The major trick to these fights is that if you run around in a circle on the outer edge of where the fight is, you will almost certainly not get flatlined. Just make sure you avoid their attacks, and then hit them after they're finished.

The fight under the bridge, you will not be able to block the dude's attacks. He will just destroy you.

The parrying doesn't work every time for the other fights. I didn't have confidence in it, so I just never parried. I think the only time the parrying doesn't work, is before an opponents large attack. Every one you fight, they will have a special attack that's pretty much death.

They pretty much make it known you are fight chromed up dudes. And they fight dirty on top of that. You think a natural is going to just go in there and win? Start fighting dirty like they do. Take some stims. Eat some food. Use cyberware.

If you aren't at least partially speced into body with melee cyberware you're in for a hard time. If you go in with a full brawler character its not hard at all.

Makes sense that criminals would have mods to make them better at violence. Therefore it makes sense you lose without a mod
Wayz Jan 9, 2022 @ 12:42am
So, without implants you expect to take on ppl that have trained excessively to be numbered among the best H to H fighters in the city that have specialised implants themselves?

V,s good but ... get some implants. Gorilla fists will destroy all four of them and you will just laugh at the absurdity of this post. Even on highest difficulty without melee skills.

It seems pretty obvious hand to hand questline needs you to focus on hand to hand combat.

You don't need to do that questline it's completely optional, never even started it myself.

I just won a match today and I think the next one is the last guy. This match I beat on the first try.
The first fight I lost like 8 times before winning and was a little better the next one. So I'm saying I'm not good at dodging and taking my time. I didn't have any perks or anything for fighting.

This time I had gorilla arms but it still took a long time to win this last match. The thing I had done was put 2 points in the street brawler : Rush. This gives regeneration when hitting with melee.
So I was still bad and was going to lose but I just started kiting him and throwing a punch every once and a while. This brought my health back up and I could be more aggressive. He would hit me 1 or 2 times and almost beat me then I would regen it back up kiting him.

Hope this helps
