The benefits of zeroing royce, reading the email from the computer, freeing brick ( who helps you later and becomes maelstrom king) and getting to exploring Stouts and getting the iconic baton + not tampering with the chip until after the mission and getting 10k vs only getting the doom doom iconic revolver in the mission later on which has terrible sights and siding with maelstrom. its a clear winner which side of the story you should do.
I mean by all means, explore all routes. but if you are collecting its value proceeds if you get chaos free brick and read the email
Maybe without the datashard Meredith Stout knew she had to use some other means to keep tabs on V, so that's what she did? Or maybe it's just a bug? Because it didn't make much sense to me. I didn't even find the room with the mole email until my fourth character (a streetkid), and it didn't matter, since it was Anthony Gilchrist at the end of The Pickup.
