CDPR should make a zombie game. They're really natural at it.

You don't need AI to immerse your self the story is so good. You can immerse your self by watching the first-person cutscenes and picking cringe without meaning dialogue choices. All that without ever having a glimpse of your character ever of course. Doesn't matter if the rest of world is a dead shell the story make up for it by being so good. HAHAHA. Did i get it right fanboys, ehm excuse me intellectual people that we the narrow minded people can't get the grasp of how good CP2077 is? That's the excuse we use nowdays right?

Yeah... its bad. Shockingly bad. And not a hint that they plan to do anything about it.

I don't want to defend the game here...but how is it worse than any other game? If anything it is slightly better than average. Enemies will often use cover and quick hack skills...they will try to come from your blind sides if you give them a chance...are pretty smart with their grenade tosses...etc. I have played a lot of games where enemies just will strafe back and forth shooting or something. Heck that is what most enemies do in HL2 if they don't just bum rush you.

Could it be better? Sure...but there are things in the game that deserve criticism far more.

The stealth aspect of the AI is kind of dumb...like not noticing that the eight chooms an enemy had near by are suddenly gone...but no one complains about games like Skyrim doing that. Besides maybe me

if I takedown enemies in stealth and they come across one of them, I will hear them say "we got a body!" or something else, and then enemies are alerted and I am in combat. Seems realistic to me

What's cockroach AI? You mean the bugs crawling across dirty areas? Did you expect CDPR to create random pathing for cockroaches?
Gustuv Wynd Dec 8, 2021 @ 1:56pm
Well, I meant when you take them down and hide the bodies. I think it should be cause for some level of alarm when all your buddies are suddenly gone.

Oh yeah. I definitely agree with that. It would be cool if the enemies started panicking as you take out more and more of them and they become more and more paranoid and shoot randomly

I remember a reddit about this way back when. The thing isthere is no real "AI" in CPMMLXXVII. It's all, or mostly, just poorly executed scripts.

And that's really cool! HL2's cockroaches count as "monsters" in the game, are very weak and can be killed by stepping on them, and are programmed to move toward food and away from light or larger creatures. Someone on the dev team probably thought "wouldn't it be cool if..." and they carried it out, and it's an interesting and fun detail that can add to someone's enjoyment of the game.

... But it's not a standard feature. The fact that Valve thought to include that fun detail in no way implies that we should expect to see that same particular detail in any game where it might fit in. Game development is all about compromise. Everything a dev team chooses to include in the game takes time and effort that by definition can't go toward something else. CP77 doesn't have individual cockroaches with basic AI, it has an animated texture meant to give the suggestion of scurrying cockroaches at a glance. But it does have fully-rendered, highly detailed car interiors. It also has hundreds of unique articles of clothing to mix and match. It's also got dialog that has been translated and lip-synced into 10 different languages (with subtitles available for even more). It's remarkably silly to try to present the absence of a highly-specific feature (more of a detail, really) as somehow reflective of the game's overall low quality.

The crowd AI doesnt react at all intelligently, the NPCs cant drive at all or react in any way. All they can do is drive on a rail. One of the most fun things in Saints Row 3 was shooting a gun into someone's tire and watching the chaos as everyone panics. You cant do that in this game because NPCs cant drive in any sort of reactive way.

And dont even get me started on police AI. No high speed chases?

Really? That particular criteria is how you can tell? In a medium with an infinite number of variables, you're going to arbitrarily choose ONE and decide that it represents the quality of "dedication" on the part of developers and, by extension, that its absence suggests lack of dedication?

That's all you can really claim.
