[Paradox]

i had a thought while playing one of my play through's what if they actually connect to AI behind the wall lol ? they seem to have no idea about what was previously talked about and there eyes go like the dude with the blue eyes so maybe the AI already calculated this meeting between the two of you and maybe in the future it will help them with breaking through the wall. maybe completely wrong open to opinions :)

it's just a program they run catered to people that's why you jack in and get scanned when first entering clouds to see what you should want-need.
They are dolls because they aren't in control while being used with the program and the safe word just stops that program and puts the doll back in control.

I have always wondered if they actually know what is being done to them when they are dolls or they just wake up with no memory.

The lore says: "the dolls are completely unaware of what happens to them during the session, giving clients absolute freedom and discretion. It's a win-win... right?"

The lore also tell us about the chip that: "It is comprised of three main functions - importing data from systems, steering the doll's behavior in-session and wiping the doll's memory after each and every session"

So they do get whiped, but they should be unaware having nothing to delete.
To me that is just your common dystopian setting in which they really are aware of what is going on and they delete that time so people don't think anything bad about it.
