What do I do to increase my ninjutsu skill?
Do I have to choose kill instead of knock out when I grab someone? Anything else?

Thanks

It doesn't matter if you go lethal or non-lethal when you grab someone. I think you just have to take them down while in stealth to increase ninjutsu. Silenced revolvers and overwatch sniper rifle should work too as long as you don't break stealth.

If you take someone down with a non-lethal quickhack like Contagion. If you kill them while stealthed as they lay on the ground. It's an easy way to gain xp. But, it only allows you to attain xp that way up to a certain point. I don't recommend intentionally going with this approach unless you intend on doing a stealthy netrunner build. As it will take a long time and require a lot of patience to weaken targets to the point where you can be sure the fire quickhack will kill them. See, contagion puts enemies on alert but doesn't reveal you. The other hacks will reveal you after a meter fills. Unless your target dies first.

since 1.5 every body you toss into a bin gets you points in Ninjutsu, even if combat is over and you are walking instead of sneaking. So make sure to clean up after yourself.

That worked that way in 1.0 version too.

Remember that your ninjutsu skill cannot get higher than your points in Cool.

I went full-bore throwing knives in a recent play through and it seemed to level up ninjutsu pretty fast as long as I kept relatively silent.

Take down enemies without being seen by cameras and other enemies. I do non lethal takedowns, idk why.

If you like going for non-lethal you can try a Batman playthrough to make life interesting. No lethal, no guns, target analysis with throwing knives as batarangs, no damaging quickhacks. Lots of stealth.

you can use short circuit and contagion as they are marked as non-lethal. just be sure not to damage them again when they are downed

Yeah but in my opion that makes things to easy. My first play through was a non-lethal netrunner and it just became a joke how easy it was.
I'm only using covert hacks for my Batman run.

Fun style to play, I did this as well for my recent playthrough and missing the throw is comedy.

Hide bodies, be a tidy shadow lurking sociopath.

I mean any successful Serial Killer Merc needs to tidy up after himself so he doesn't leave evidence for the cops upset the innocent public.

I use the thing that makes everything nonlethal, but it isn’t guaranteed. If the contagion spreads due to perks or whatever, but there’s nowhere left for it to spread, it can go back and kill already downed opponents. Rather annoying when that happens x.x

Since then I just started making judgments calls Dredd style. Heinous crimes? You get decapitated or head blown off. Lighter stuff? Unconscious. (Barring accidents such as accidentally doing a dodge into a downed opponent which for some reason can kill them, lol)

But yea, stealth kills/knockouts and hiding dead/unconscious enemies is the easiest way to level it from what I’ve seen.
