What are the chances for vehicle tuning and street races?
Will we ever get it?
I started using mods, especially ones for vehicles, like speed and handling mods, and now I could ride my bike for hours. Seriously would like to see few races, even scripted would do.

It's so fun to ride fast af in Night City, but with this mod FPS drops hard sometimes ,and pop-in is also bad in city center. But it feels so good to accelerate from 0 to 270 :D
Cyber Vehicle Overhaul, highly recommended :

My Vs have killed more civilians while driving than from firearms/melee/grenades combined.

Tuning, highly not likely. Racing, maybe; that'll depend on CDPR.

Isn't there a race already from the barmaid at the afterlife?

That's side story related. OP is interested in non-story related racing.

They match your speed. As long as you don't crash, you will win, always. I cannot think anything less exciting.

Ridge Racer on PS1 had more code than the races in this game.
because ridge racer is a racing game and not an RPG.

if the op wants racing he can go play one of the many that already exist. cyberpunk isnt forza, gran tourismo, or any of the other ones.

Edit: and it most certainly isnt grand theft auto.

Cyberpunk doesn't have almost any non-scripted chases. Don't start the "but its an RPG" talk.

It just shows that devs can't do basic stuff that various other devs did 10-20 years ago.

They can't even make NPCs follow a SCRIPTED ROUTE without rubberband crap, teleporting, getting stuck in the terrain, and flying in the air as a result. ♥♥♥♥ looks ridiculous.

you mean the same issues that are shared with other open world RPG? where have you been? and yes cyberpunk is an RPG and not a racing game, or racing sim.

such mechanics would take a ridiculous amount of coding and polish. there is no driving game in their portfolio of games so they have no experience with it in the first place. people can barely put up with the driving already in the game. imo it gets me from point a to b. it was the same way with witcher.

its like asking saints row 4 to all of a sudden be a racing game. remember the super powers that turned driving off? i do.

I mean that roughly 1/3 of the game is driving, other parts being shooting (as in, its an FPS obviously) and the rest is the story. And those 33% don't even have the simplest chases? (I'm not even talking about races, if devs are so unqualified to even implement chases, normal races would be impossible for them)

In 2022 devs still didn't manage to implement this stuff. So we have to watch NPC cars teleport all over the place, get stuck and so on, which ruins all the immersion, if there is any, in the first place. Man, don't be a blind fanboy and accept it.

i repeat "you mean the same issues that are shared with other open world RPG?" i didnt even disagree with you on this point. im literally saying this game is not fit to be something it isnt.

Edit: also you are coming real close to sounding like a hater. maybe at 1.0 and before 1.3 but after 1.3 and 1.5 people need to put that grudge to rest.

No, this is not a "shared issue".
This game literally has cops, gangs, various corporations, criminals, cars are in frequent use, they're everywhere and there's tons of variations of them, and yet (underline) WE BARELY SEE ANY CHASES IN THE WHOLE GAME. 99% of them are scripted (VERY badly), and that 1% is dogsh-t AI that doesn't know how to follow another target.

And you say it doesn't fit? There's no such content just because the devs are unqualified for their jobs.

Tuning/racing would likely come in the same dlc, although the tuning would likely not be anything on the level of GTA's. Likely basic things like stat boosts color changing things like that.

Yeah, I was thinking about simple way of implementing street racing...
Flash your lights while behind a fancy looking tuned car with neon lights, liveries etc [those could spawn randomly at night], and then random location is selected, minimum 2km from you, AI car starts racing towards it, and you have to get there first. That's all. Maybe after 10 wins you get a street racing version of Caliburn or something lol.

I mean, it shouldn't be that hard to implement it, for any dev studio.
And it is a form of dynamic content, that's always there when you finished all the scripted quests.
CDPR acknowledge Vehicle Customization as a popular feature in one of the many interviews before release. They said it wouldn't be in the base version, however after release they would investigate it as a future free DLC. Some supposed leaks in the past about potential DLCs seemed to suggest that at that point that still was the case, and we haven't heard anything different from CDPR so far.
So in my eyes the chances for general Vehicle customization aren't that bad.
If this includes Power tuning or just visuals is unknown so far, I won't speculate about that.
To my awareness nothing has been said about racing.

I'm willing to bet they were saving vehicle customization for multiplayer but since multiplayer has been cancelled, it'll be free dlc.

When you think about it, this game doesn't have much vehicle variety. They were likely designing to vehicles and such for multiplayer and probably were going to release those along with customization together
