Cyberpsycho sighting: The Wasteland - HOW?!
So, according to the wiki, it IS possible to bring this one in alive, but... like... how? And also HOW?! He's in one of those Ripley-brand 'Boss Fight' exoskeletons! Even sneaking up on him for a takedown only takes 25% off its health. You can't engage it in melee, so no blunt weapons or fist-fighting - get near it, and you'll just be automatically knocked down and blown away.

I tried wearing him down to, like, 10% health with an LMG, then finishing him off with a couple quick Gorilla Arm punches... but the subsequent text-message makes it clear that I still KILLED him.

I snipe him in the head from a distance and hide behind a rock or something when it starts vibrating. Use a single shot weapon and you shouldn't kill him.

Finish him off with short circuit quickhack or emp granades.

Does killing him with the back takedown count as a non-lethal finisher? 'cuz I've tried it, and it looks pretty destructive...

Thanks for the eye-mod reminder! I think I've actually got one in my inventory that I've never used... can cyberware-mods be swapped out freely, or do they 'bind' when placed?
Lapo Feb 23, 2022 @ 12:30pm
They "bind" in the sense that the slot cannot be free ever again but the mod can be replaced at any time by another mod. The older mod is not lost, it goes into your inventory.

Doing the Cyberpsycho sightings is one of my favourite type of missions to do, especially bringing them all in alive. Super fun.

Possibly changes with 1.5 because they did work beforehand. I've found even multiple short circuits are fatal now in 1.5.

Basically there is no way I know of to bring down the guys in those rigs without killing them more often than not.

Ah, good to know! Should be easy enough, then - I won't even have to drive all the way to the nearest Ripperdoc or anything! I'll just slot the nonlethal-damage eye-implants into place for the duration of that fight. Hopefully, they're reliable!

I haven't had any trouble short-circuiting them and leaving them alive.

Also I haven't had any problems with non-lethal weapon mods and non-lethal grenades.

Also yeah melee gets shafted often (even before the armor nerf) you really do need to have something that lets you do fairly significant ranged damage.

You can beat him with melee, I used a lethal katana, and didn't kill him.

No matter what you use, when they are down to one hit left, you must hit them only one more time. They will automatically be knocked out. Any additional damage after this will kill them.

You have to damage them enough to bring them to zero without doing any more damage than that.

Also to properly melee these guys, you have to get just close enough to smack them, then back up a little. You can't get too close or hang around because they will knock you down. The knockdown is avoidable. Kerenzikov helps, circle around and aim for the attachment point of the shield that is highlighted, it's a critical spot that does a good chunk of damage when you blow it up.

Electrified baton takes him down quick and alive.

I used melee blunt and it killed him... was super bummed when I later read that you can take him out non-lethal, had already moved on in the game at that point. :(

Even non-lethal is pretty lethal if it does too much damage. Also ANY hit on a fainted enemy will kill them, regardless of damage,
DaylightDemon Feb 23, 2022 @ 5:38pm
wait what? it doesnt make any difference how you kill em. lethal or non lethal.
