Best vehicle for street races?

Been driving around town now and then, and I have to say... yeah, the driving's PRETTY bad. Not the worst I've ever encountered, but it's not GREAT. And then I get invited to participate in a series of street races. Eeeesh...

I checked, though, and you can apparently use your own vehicle for most of 'em. So... which is the best for it? You'd need a decent balance between speed and handling, especially with how floaty the controls are. And I assume you don't get to use a BIKE for it - shame, though, since I've found THOSE a whole lot easier to handle, mostly due to being far more forgiving in general.

Quadra type-66 Javelina is probably the best overall for a balance of speed and handling with enough weight to keep it on the road. The Coyote is a close second.

Seriously? Hmm. Well, that just means that SPEED is a non-issue, making the sole factor HANDLING. Hence, the question now is: Which is the best-HANDLING car in the game, disregarding speed?

i second the Quadra Javelina as hands down the best car when it comes to overall feel while driving. its also the most versatile for all terrain. also i think it looks sick.

I'd say coyote. It's the one that drives closest to a computer game car rather than a real world car -- ie it is the one that most closely follows your inputs without doing its own thing.

But driving without a controller is a bit eurgh.

Quite a few cars had their handling rebalanced in 1.5, but the Nomad cars (Coyote, Javelina) are still on top. Outside that, the Type 66 Avenger now turns like a dream.
The ones I don't recommend are the Rayfield cars, their handling is awesome but their windows cannot be rolled down, so Claire can't shoot if you use them.

Well, I‘m winning the street races with my Caliburn just fine even IF Claire cannot shoot (which I don’t eben remember). I find it most forgiving, because even if you miss a perfect turn or hit something, even if you have to pull back some, the car just accelerates so fast, you usually don’t lose so much.

Neither stats matter, if you look behind during those races, you can see them crashing at every other obstacles, or goin against each other. The game then spawns them close to you soon as you're not looking to have it "competitive".

Ive won the races on the small Maimai, top speed is little to no influence in the outcome. The biggest challenge on that was fitting both me and Claire in the car.

Brake coming into corners and handling issues are resolved. Trying to take corners at 120 mph is the only issue the game has generally, with ridiculous over-steer on some of the shorter cars.

Hahaha I've been holding off those races since I don't quite feel like plugging in my controller. Car driving with a keyboard feels bad.
