Ehhhh that's half true but there I am sure for each kind of main supported Play style a best starting attribute set up to help get the most of the early game.
Many ppl like going in guns blazing or slashing everything with their katana, a playstyle I'd really not enjoy. I prefer taking it really slow and stealthy with a bit of netrunning...
Yeah, I might take 10 time as long for a mission, but who cares, if I'm having a good time.
But they each need different attributes.
int for netrunning, cool for stealthyness, reflexes for handguns etc...
Certain guns need body. some implants need body or reflex...
ie I never need or use kerenzikov or sandevistan, as those are only very situational for my playstyle, other couldn't live without them...
I really don't know what to tell you other than the best build is the one fitting your playstyle...
(20 Intelligence or level 35+ and save scumming access points (more access points work give legendary quickhacks at level 40+))
(Also need to put together all the gear + skills to get 60% crit (80% for first 7sec of combat, +7% if stealth, +7% for 5sec on headshot with pistol, 100% with Cold Blood active - this takes 20 Cold Blood skill and a LOT of perk points))
(can use shotgun instead of pistol/smg/blade, only really need 1 pellet to crit, so can work with lower crit chance)
Tech is less useful than it used to be (because now you can't do lol invulnerable armor rating with crafting). It is still good if doing tech weapons (which are still good).
I've done Body + Tech + Cool + 8 Int and 7 Body + Reflexes + Tech + Cool before this patch.
I'm trying ? Body + Reflexes + 16 Int + Cool build now; it sucks at low level, but isn't made to be good at low level anyways...
As far as starting stats:
Just pick 3 stats you are going to eventually use.
Reflexes for good weapons/melee (tech pistol are probably the best weapon type in the game)
Tech for crafting + tech weapons (crafting allows iconic weapons to actually be useful, only a few start as legendary; also infinite cash, but grinding enemies at high level gives you that anyways, crafting just lets you get there sooner.)
Int for quickhacks
Body for shotgun + melee that isn't as good as blades (also defender isn't trash now), athletics has some nice perks but leveling it at high skill is super painful now; some weapon req 10 Body now (that ones that req 6 before 1.5)
Cool for small boosts to this or that, was nerfed a bit in 1.5 (evasion, crits reduces)
I haven't tried the knife throwing stuff yet, so I don't know if that is just a gimmick or actually useful now.
Note that Reflexes and Body have 3 skills each, so you end up getting more perk points with them than other stats.
It feels...unfair to the NPCs. Not sure about it later in the game when bosses are tougher but I'm willing to soldier on!
I can one hit kill with my mantis claws, I can use the bigger weapons and steamroll crowds, and I can short circuit people back to back in one hit KOs. Just play the game, and select perks and attributes based on what you feel you want/need at the time.
not only that but you can also grab tech weapon perks from it which are still op so win win
Body if you want to go fist/blunt, Sandevstan and possibly berzerk. it;s also linked to stamina, health, ripping things of their hinges, etc, etc.
Intelligence if you want to go hacking/netrunner.
Tech is a good support stream that works especially well with tech weapons but also aids crafting. High crafting will let you do more damage than all the perks from the various reflex categories will.
Basically max out 2 and throw some points into the others as desired.
Used melee for 99% of the game. Later on I was 1-2 shotting mechs with monowire. One shot of legendary Sandevistan was enough to shred a room of 10+ enemies. I lolfacerolled Adam Smasher with monowire.
Plus, it kinda feels nice story wise to be a netrunner.
I chose 6 intel 6 cool 4 body... leveled to 20 in that order, and the last 8 in reflex.
