"black unicorn" katana upgrade issue?

Hey folks,

back in the days when Cyberpunk2077 launched I somehow lost my "black unicorn" katana which was a special item for also having Witcher 3 or something like that.

However with patch 1.5 they introduced a blueprint to recreate this item as a "rare weapon" which evolves to epic and legendary when you upgrade it 5/12 times.

So I crafted the katana and upgraded it once ... since then it is not available for another upgrade. Does anybody know why? I upgraded other stuff in the past (before 1.5) to see what effect it has and I could do it multiple times right away.

So has something changed on how often you can upgrade or am I missing something?

what it says if you try to upgrade it ? you should see a read text that shows you what's missing. also they changed some lvl requirements for some weapons

I can't try to upgrade it anymore. After I upgraded it once (and it does show on the item description that I have upgraded it once) it is not longer available for upgrade. I can see all my other weapons (guns and a knife) but not this katana.

Two ways to get it to Legendary, either upgrade it multiple times.
or use the crafting recipes with the perks.
If you use the Upgrade, it wont work the other, cause the other needs the base item to craft

so there;s no way to upgrade it to legendary or epic now? I have the needed perks for epic and legendary specs but I am not being given the option to make the black unicorn

After 5 times it upgrades to Epic and after 12 it upgrades to Legendary, I'm not sure if that is 17 or 12 altogether.

If crafting to new level (not just upgrading) I have had to exit the inventory screen to see the new part. When you re-enter the inventory screen, it should (might?) be there as the new level and ready for the next upgrade. I don't think crafting triggers an inventory update. Then, check for level limitations/parts/etc.

There is a difference between upgrading and crafting a new leveled item.

I literally just read the description. You cannot craft the epic or legendary version, you get it upgrading the sword.

Were you level 50 when you crafted it, because the craft for the rare item will be made at 1 level below your current level and once you upgrade an item to level 50 it disappears from the upgrade menu. If you are above about level 38 when you craft the initial item you will not be able to get it to legendary on that character.

Edit: This also applies to the shirts and jackets that upgrade the same way
