It’s not a game just a damn movie.
Seriously? They call it open world? I want to PLAY not watch and press a button here and there. I like to tell my own story not watch someone else’s. I guess I thought this game was something else. So little character control. There are way better movies out there

ya when they got the great guy in, they just went with making a movie with him, instead of him just being another one the characters in it like he should have been.

Yup story is Keanu movie. He is star and V feels like camera man just pressing buttons to move to the next scene sequence.

I'm just disappointed in the lack of choice in the ending.

Guess so. Might I suggest reading a few reviews next time, or perhaps watching a Let's Play or Twitch stream.

The beginning feels the most like this to me, especially. Once you're out of the prologue, I feel like you get to do more, but that's if you spend a lot of time doing side gigs and stuff with doing the main ones only here and there. I imagine if you do mostly story missions without the side gigs, it would be even more grating.

I actually love cinematic moments in games (like in Mass Effect and Dragon Age too) but in other games, there is a lot more to do in between. I love Cyberpunk 2077. I have 155 hours and I'm just about to finally beat the game. But, I think the cinematic moments are sometimes too long for being so few? I would have rather had more "play time" with the main missions with the cinematics, as opposed to what feels like a lot of cinematics with little play time if considering the main story.

To be fair, CDPR did say it was going to be even more story driven than the Witcher 3 was.

Can't be accused about lying about this, can they?

I Think CDPR still owes us a full Bushido X movie just like I want Bioware to release Blasto 6: Partners in Crime

On more serious note the first Act should have been extended in my opinion but it is what it is. Still prefer this style over QTE cinematics

If you think THIS is like a movie, play the Yakuza games xD

Yep i expected a sandbox RPG like Fallout/Mount and Blade where you could join factions with different unrelated storylines, do whatever and change some stuff but instead got a interactive movie, there is so much stuff they could do in a Cyberpunk setting instead of being just a Keanu movie big wasted potential in this game.

Whoever made this game is passionate about movies and cinema, not gaming.

Some cutscenes take too long, like more than half an hour of dialogue and talking, bla bla bla... becomes so tiring, if you want to play instead of watch a movie.

The game play leaves much to be desire. It feels like a generic boring fps. The hacking is you choosing a thing on a menu.......WTF?! If anyone played Deus Ex you'll know they did it MUCH better.

I agree to a degree. We see this in other games as well. Personally I hate how Silverhand is the main character and V is often helpless.
I'd love to see a mod where V can beat the snot out of Silverhand at the start and whenever he opens his mouth.

But that aside, some of the quest stories are very good. And though the main quest is supposed to be the big event (It's very much not), I do love taking on gangs and doing side quests.

My hope is that as new content DLC is released, Silverhand is absent, V is free to roam and hopefully we see some good quests.

Cheers all.

I think it feels like sitting down to a good tabletop campaign.

When you play with a group you can't always choose your adventure. You have to go with the group.

And this game, we get to rp with Keanu Reeves and other great actors! 10 of 10. Nobody else is putting up front the money for this level of production.

For games that feel like movies, I feel Final Fantasy 7 is more movie like and on rails. Elden Ring story and character is nonsense, at best a dream world where narrative fails except for a few fever scenes.
New Vegas was very streamlined. The combat systems were improved greatly, but you really couldn't play the character you wanted, your choices got narrow quick, and usually came down to "should I use explosives or just shoot?"
Mass Effect felt too much like Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic to me to say it's any better of an rpg than those. CP2077 is very much in the vein of SWKotOR, but the writing and dialogue paths are more complex than ANY rpg we've ever seen. I'm amazed to watch other players come to the same parts in the game, but feel totally different about Johnny and the pc and the main plot of the game than I do, but still basically choose the same game action path that I do, but the dialogue matches their choice and opinions! Whereas my dialogue matched my choice and opinions. Just brilliant writing, and very thorough.

I can see not liking the story. And not liking Punk.

Not liking Punk is what is at heart of muchdisdain for the game. Keanu Reeves character mocks you as a gamer for valuing games. He mocks EVERY institution, including family, love and friendship. He is a cynic and punk supreme. He mocks the idea you want to be a street samarai, or some runner, or a raider or suit. He mocks the idea that you want a different game.

I apologize that Johnny hurts you emotionally. Not every book or movie or game is for everyone.

Most players when they want to game want a more 'theme park' world like GTA where it's just play, it's not real. The pain of being insulted is not real. I sit down and game like that sometimes. I usually only play one rpg a year because I just don't have time to get into it.

If you can't handle punk, and just want to play dress up, there's other games. I wish you luck. GTA and Red Dead have whole catalogs of clothes you can buy and play dress up.

But true ambitious games like this don't need your narrow minded hate. Try to see CP2077 for what a monumental effort it was, not for the experience you wanted it to be.
