Yeah except he just jumped across the entire rink. I used karenzikov to try and get out of the way but as I got around him, his body rotated in slow motion WITH karenzikov's effec, and then changed direction on a dime.
He then proceeded to continue an endless combo at me.
I beat him by pummeling him onto the chair in the corner, he wound up standing on top of it and I just beat him repeatedly in the stomach, and got him in a stun-lock as he lurched over repeatedly. It was the stupidest fight since that guy with O'Five.
Also, make sure to take the 15-minute health and stamina boost items.
Aside from that, I can confirm that I was still taking damage when I countered him. I don't know if he has a special ability to punch through a counter or if it was a glitch, but I had to rely entirely on sidesteps.
The other thing that really worked for me was Strong attacks. The brief stagger they caused allowed me to stunlock him for extended periods of time, although it was crucial to to never let my stamina fall too low. When you're down to 25% or so, back off and focus on evading until it refills. You're in trouble if that bar runs dry.
It took me what felt like 5-10 tries to finally bring him down, but by the end I developed what felt like a pretty good sense of his timing.
Oh, and this might be obvious but save RIGHT before you climb in the ring, and after you take all the health items you need to charge up. It'll make reloading less painful.
The main thing is to make sure he never throws a combo attack. If you keep your guard up, he'll just spam strong attacks against you, which are easy to dodge and give you a break to build up stamina. If you have a Kerenzikov, you should be able to dodge his strong attack, hit him with a strong attack and then throw a two punch combo before he recovers. As Viktor recommends, aim for his midsection for extra damage. You will have to be aggressive once he gets below 30% health, because he'll cheat and use a health boosting item. Just remember to always start off with a strong attack, because he will block a combo unless he's staggered.
Some other things that can help:
First the "I can't. I just can't" part, your correct, you literally can't (at least not without perfect timing and a ton of luck). These fights were never designed to be fair they were designed to be a challenge for players who went all in with melee builds and spent hours using them in game, refining and perfecting their skills until they were ready for one of these mini-bosses. Under normal circumstances you will lose these fights and even if you are an amazing fighter, unless you go and spec into melee, this last fight will destroy you.
Second "Not really sure what to do" well if it was any other fight I would say go and get double jump, the enemies will land a hit if their fist gets within about 1.5 revolvers of your character model so single jumping away or over them doesn't work as their fist are like homing missiles and can track all your movements and even if you do jump their fist still gets in range and deals damage where as double jumping puts you high enough in the air too not only avoid damage put you can stay up there long enough for the punching animation to end. That doesn't work with the final boss though so instead you need to stop the animation from ever beginning, stun locking. In order to do this you will need to throw your moral code and sense of honor to the wind as you will be bringing a sword to a fist fight. These two videos detail how: https://youtu.be/Rpp3peZTuoQ
and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCI2RvuNvA0
This allows you to deal way more damage and doesn't require you to spec into melee, I have a high speed infinite critical hit pistol/rifle build (watch some doom 2016/eternal speedruns and you'll have a good idea of how my character looks in combat) and I managed to win my "Beat on the Brat" missions, but neither the double jump nor the melee weapon glitch is fair and whilst they do allow the player to be more creative in how the approach missions I'm pretty sure this will be patched in a few months.
Last but not least "I literally can't even keep track of this guy." the size of the ring makes it a little difficult to track him and avoid his attacks without running into a corner or wall (rope thing) so best thing you can do is try to lock him in a straight line, use the wall of the ring and make him stay against it as hes trying to hit you because if you let him into the middle of the ring you will split your focus between him and the boxing ring which leads to you losing track of him or in the worst case scenario you forget where you are and dodge into a corner and die two seconds later. keep him following you in straight lines around the ring, use the walls to guide you so you don't get lost and if possible stun lock him once he's in or near a corner as this means you can hit him and he can't back away.
My apologies for the long read but I hope it helps you out and gives you a few ideas on how to win the fight.
I have a ton of armor too but seeing as I didn't spec into becoming a street brawler I lose about 80% of my health (1,200 armor, 350 health, one hit brings me to about 65 health). But even if I fight him in my underwear it still takes two hits, 25 health left after one hit so maybe this fight is supposed to be a 2 hit KO.
I found that how difficult they were (the damage they take from us) really depended on the mission difficulty rating/level (that thing you see below the mission name in the journal) which varies from very low to very high.
I was level 30 when I fought him, hacker-stealth build so just 6 Body stat and no perks on the Body tree, difficulty rating of the mission was moderate. I equipped epic gorilla arms cyberware with burning damage mods, and he went down in just a few hits it was rather disappointing. On the other hand, I also lose just by taking two hits so it's just equally annoying. Tips for the fight is like others already said, use strong attacks, get 2-3 light hits in and back away far enough so he needs to charge you, then dodge and repeat.
So my advice if you are not doing him enough damage would be, wait until the difficulty rating goes down a bit, get epic gorilla arms, and take him on.
Tried fists only in dark souls, really wasn't a fan. Gave up half way through because I just can't stand the play style.
The only game with fist fighting I ever liked was Oni - an old ass game made by Bungie before they worked on Halo. Remember Me isn't too bad, but that's the extent of it. This game's brawling is just crap.
Its hard when you have zero peripheral vision, too. You have no context for whats going on around you, and if you've ever taken martial arts, they train you to be able to tell what's going on out of the corners of your eyes to help improve reaction time. You just don't get that here.
Got through it through, and managed to take down Ozob after. This is one questline I'll never be repeating.
Gorilla arms.
Go ape.
On my second play through I got a "fortunate bug". I was able to get him to rush me across the ring in to a corner with a post. Once he stopped I powered up my Gorilla Arms and hit him. This would cause him to be forced outside the ring but with the location he was in it pushed him up the post. When he recovered he was stuck on top of the post and all he would do is his taunt pose. From there it was risk free punching as he slid 3 ft above the ground all around the perimeter of the ring.
