'Cyberpunk' creator Mike Pondsmith speaks out after game launch!
'Cyberpunk' is a franchise dating back to 1987, with the launch of the RPG.
'Cyberpunk 2020' followed in 1990.
'Cyberpunk RED' is set in 2045, and was released in 2020.

Mike Pondsmith created those games, and licensed the world of 'Cyberpunk 2077' to CDPR. He spoke out after the game's launch, and touched on everything from the characters to the ground-breaking immersion of the watershed FPS RPG.

From the article:
''...Mike was keen to talk about how CDPR brought his iconic character Johnny Silverhand to life:
"It wasn’t that Keanu was this famous actor," Mike went on. "It was more that Johnny is this really internal person, and you don’t really know what is going on.
He’s really damaged first of all, and you never know what you’re going to get. And I kind of liked the fact that Keanu could be very internal, and suddenly pop up with something. So it worked well with me."

Speaking about working with CD Projekt Red, Mike explained:
"It was a very very cooperative situation - which has dialled down a lot more now. I bring something to the table which I think is very helpful, which is I worked in video games.
I didn’t have unrealistic ideas of what we can do [with Cyberpunk 2077]. In fact, I did not think we could pull off some of the stuff I’ve seen!"

When pressed on what things about the scale of the game worried him, Mike replied:
"Things like the density of crowds, and things like that. And the fact that people don’t look robotic on the street.
And the overall feeling that it’s a city - even beyond what I can see on the screen - I can hear, when I’m listening to things, I can hear honking and stuff going on miles away which would be happening in the city.
A lot of those things were difficult tasks, but I’m pretty happy so far with everything I’ve seen."''

You can take it from Mike Pondsmith, he worked in videogames.
The majority of 'Cyberpunk 2077's fans and players definitely feel likewise -- and they are looking to CDPR's healthy track record of further improving their titles for years to come.
Everyone seems pretty happy, so far, with CDPR's commitment to making it right.

After v1.1 and a hotfix in January -- patch 1.2 is slated to drop sometime this month.
Between then and the summertime DLCs, what sort of hotfix/optimization schedule would you like to see the developer deliver?
What are your big asks, outside of fixing the implementation of NCPD AI?

I thought that he was suppose to be hiding in a bunker with Keanu somewhere, never to be heard from again?
I figured he took a lot of stock options when they licenced the property. He's trying to talk up the game so the stock goes up. Should have invested in GME or AMC if you wanted a bigger payout.

If the company isn't a fortune 500, always take the money over stock options.

I highly doubt you give af about anybody's portfolio. You are just being snarky because you fall victim to hype trains and can't get over it. XD

I actually feel bad because Mike has been creating his world since the 80s so it's a shame that it ended up as controversial as it did.

If he was given stock options he is going to get a great bonus payment this year when they pay the dividends. He will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Keeps his IP relevant too. The owner of the hobby store I buy my rpg books from said the Cyberpunk sourcebooks are selling more after the game's release. Pondsmith is raking cash right now.

I think this is why so many are upset, that they cannot be this creative so lash out at someone else's success.

Shoosh you don't even know what $100 looks like. No way would you understand the workings of business on a multi million dollar scale.

Yeah, he is.
R.Talsorian Games began reprinting most of the CP2020 books, as well as the new CyberpunkRED, and can't keep the core rules in stock.
After market prices are double retail, all day long, as well -- to show you how hungry the demand is.

The delusions that Cyberpunk2077 and the brand isn't smelling like a rose are grand.

Far as the video game genre, it's a one and done ip.

Sure thing guy. Eminem was one and done, couldnt even get more fans than ICP in detroit and needed Dr. Dre to mentor him before he actually ever turned a dime. Dude even lied about big names coming to his shows so he could sucker in more tickets.

From the planning phases & negotiations, it was arranged that CDPR would be taking control of the IP timeline after 2077 -- in order to produce more titles in the series and advance the canonical storyline of the world.
There is also cross-market business happening with CP2077 sourcebook materials for the RPG (likely the 1st to come in the new series of books).

My little nephew couldn't care less about 'Dungeons & Dragons' -- but his console time on CP2077 had him picking up those tabletop rulebooks with real interest.
'Cyberpunk2077' has spawned a new generation of fans, with a larger player pool than ever in the game's history. They'll have a fine audio/visual outlet for their new favorite franchise for decades to come, count on it.
