Why does it take so long to install a already downloaded update for this game?
My SSD (80,5 GB free space) is on 100% usage for half an hour now. The whole system is lagging when I do other stuff like browsing the internet.
This is the only game I know where i it takes ages to install a update? Why?

Update was without any problems here, but you should check your free space. 80Gb is not much, especially since Steam reserves a lot for updates.

Have over a gig spare on my HDD. Currently taken 20 minutes plus. It's just a slow update. Made myself a cup of tea.

Yeah, same here, even though I still have over 200 GB space left on the 1TB SSD and Steam tells me the update will be complete in 81 days wtf
Maybe it's my internet being extremely slow or throttled although everything works fine.

Download is/was already done but somehow it takes like 80 days time remaining according to steam for whatever the ♥♥♥♥ is happening after the download (a second download perhaps as it's already patched on my system with the download as I think so this is now a verification of some sort) It's also not the SSD as other games are fine.

It's finished now but took 40 minutes. I already had this problem with previous updates and way more free space on my SSD. But only with this game. Every other game I update, installs way faster.

Hm, strange. I only had the downloading time and a few seconds after the download finished it was done.

Took me about five minutes at most. Honestly some peoples computers ... no wonder there are loads of people complaining about bugs and crashes their computers must be rubbish

You might be seeing verification activity and/or antivirus activity?

Well, several people have said that it's only with this game and from experiencewith other game forums some games have this thing as well sometimes.
Also, not everyone is an overpaid twitch streamer that gets their money shoved into their ass for saying ni**a and other slurs all the time. There's people with actual real jobs who work their asses off and can't afford what those lazy streamers get per day for doing nothing than living of other people's hard earned money.

True, your GTX 1060 is way better than my garbage RTX 2070 Super.

Check task manager / Performance tab during the update and see if its using another drive in your system, in my case even tho Cyberpunk is installed to a 500GB SSD with 230GB free Steam likes to use my 2TB HDD 7200rpm for processing game updates which is of course much slower ( (2TB HDD usage 100% during update)

Took me about 2 minutes, but the game still runs like hot garbage on RTX 3090.

Having the same issue, I have a hybrid SSD drive that's generally very fast, but It's been about 2 hours since I downloaded the update and it keeps jumping from 10 minutes left to 54 days left. I have about 300GB free. The funny part is this is the first time I've experienced any issues with Cyberpunk whatsoever. Ah well, time I go out and grab some dinner while it finishes doing it's thing I guess.
I have a fiber connection to a ssd raid5 array and this patch has been trying to install for 4 hours...and there is several hundred gig free space . Sometimes steam is just complete garbage. Some games like POE just seem to take forever to do anything when updating .

I have the exact same problem.
I run a solid computer with proper performance and have CP77 installed on a 1TB Samsung SSD (the fastest you can buy today).
The download of 1.5 GB was fast but after downloading Steam showed time remaining as "over 1 year".
I exited Steam (no force exit but proper application exit).
I restarted Steam.
Now CP77 is in the download list with the message "DISK WRITE ERROR" - very funny.
Restarting the download does not work - it will end up again with the same error message in the download list.

I have now done a file integrity check of CP77 with all files successfully checked.

I had to click the download item again several times to get it from "DISK WRITE ERROR" to continue the download / install process.

It again takes forever to install all the while task manager has the Steam process use anywhere between ~30 - 157MB/s disk usage, miniscule CPU usage (0.x%) and just ~ 720 MB of RAM.

Something about this CP77 update is royally screwed up.
I have never had any other game installation / update behave this way.

The idiotic comments above that same people must have potato computers is hilarious.

Thank's for the last few interesting replies. Seems like alot of people have this problem. No matter what hardware they use or how much free space they have. I searched the internet for a possible solution but couldn't find any. What I found was even more people who have the exact same problem. I guess we just have to deal with it.
