So many characters are degenerate pieces of filth
Still not done with the story, so no spoilers please.

Seriously, I'm at the point where I just want to kill everyone I'm dealing with. They're all corrupt, inconsiderate, and general pieces of ♥♥♥♥. Anyone who does have morals is misguided as hell. Like literally, there is no reason for Night City to exist. Other than Panam and River, I don't care about any of these characters.

Johnny has the right idea. Burn it all down.

Welcome to dystopian fiction, please leave your shoes and your will to live at the door.

You say this, but the main character literally spends 80% of the sidestory bootlicking the police. The cyberpunk future from the tabletop game is far more depraved and dystopian.

Maybe you just don't like most people?

V is not a ganger or some rocker boy revolutionary, V is a licensed merc at the time the game starts in earnest (this is demonstrated when you encounter MaxTac later on). Merc's have always opperated in this strange legal grey area in Cyberpunk where they are both inside and outside the law.

Very true

I know a few from life who would fit right in, its the people calling others filth for no reason or look down upon, if they were in night city they wouldve died fast trying to become something.

Heh I guess you don't leave your house much as our own world is pretty much the same way currently. It's filled with not so nice people, corrupt officials, agendas motivated by corporate interests etc etc.

but fortunatedly the best thing about cyberpunk is they let you handle the law, and make the streets unsafer for the gangs than they are for civilians

This is one of the main themes of the Cyberpunk genre: How do you deal with your humanity in a world that completely dog-eat-dog. In your typical CP scenario the world has already gone to sh!t, there is no hope for that world at large. If there is any hope at all, it is there in individual relationships between people (and they often fail.) In that sense, CP2077 has more positive characters than some stories of the genre: Judy who „sticks her neck out for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥“, Panam who is most loyal friend V could ask for, Jackie, Victor, Misty ... but yeah, the human race as such is doomed.
moral of the story: Let‘s not go there

the whole point of dystopian fiction is figuring out how to value yourself when everything everyone around you seems to value are pretentious gilded turds. In other words "humanity has lost it's way, will you lose yours, or fight back?" etc etc

Yes it is a bleak future I'm glad you noticed.

I dunno. I'm the weird one who thinks Orwell's description of Big Brother as "imagine a boot stomping on a human face, forever," as containing a silver lining.

i see the game as some type of horror game in a way as far the dark future themes goes, where you find a few allies fighting against it or tryng to survive. There still is room for more content to come much later on, as the map has huge empty corners. The badlands contain neglected structures and building sites and some houses. i wonder if that road with no bridge yet will get one and lead to its own dlc area later, after if the empty corners on the map is done. Game got alot of unused space still, and roads that can lead to other places that contain more lore

A society that knows the price of everything but the value of nothing.
Dystopias are interesting to me.
