Greetings Wednesday,
This is how to further achieve a clean install and can be obv applied to everything.
So when you re-download the game you start from zero, not have legacy files from the previous installation.
I added it as an "answer" because i felt it was a nicer thing to highlight the user themselves for their addition.
Ok, but what problem did that solve?
a lot of people have been having crash on startup errors after updating.
other people have had heavy UI glitches, and i have confirmed re-instillation fixed his issue for a few people where verification did not.
I recommend reading through the thread too, there have been some exceptionally helpful people pop in.
In general, this is more of a PSA than anything. With major patches of a lot of games if the file size of the patch is 1/4 or higher of the original game files a basic re-install if you have time and download limit is better. The same goes for updates for drivers on your computer too.
I'm not entirely well versed on launchers outside of steam to be perfectly honest, however, if you only have CP77 installed then maybe it will be a pertinent move to uninstall it too.
This is kinda why i loathe companies creating their own launchers.. but competition is also good so i'm in a rock and a hard place on that one. What i am sure of, their inter workings suck and cause issues like this for some. But it stands to reason if you only have Cyberpunk installed (and not The Witcher too) then nuke it also and let it re-install with Cyberpunk.
We've had some pretty cool people drop into this thread, so subscribe and keep an eye on it. If the re-install of the launcher hasn't helped then no doubt some fine bastard will jump in and help.
When you uninstall a game in windows it quite often leaves the registry entries behind. When you then install the same game to the same folder (and the same directory), the registry file might get overwritten (maybe). Sometimes conflicts in the registry might arise, because some old records might conflict with new ones, and cause crashes later on.
At least that is what I have seen happen in the past with some of my old computers. It is generally a good idea to clean out your registry after removing a game to avoid potential issues further down the line.
If you cannot be asked to clean the registry out yourself manually, you can try some of the third party programs to do it for you, like CCleaner...
