Seems AVX related crashes are back with v1.3
Im having the exact same crash issues back when the game was released in december 2020 due to AVX requirements which were later removed around v1.05 update, now it came back with 1.3 update, im not 100% sure but suspect its what causing a lot of crashes for other people with processors without AVX too.

Aside from minor bugs and overall disapointment with this game it had run perfectly fine and i finished the game in january but now with this update its crashing everytime i load a savegame or get past the nomad prologue area again just like v1.0.

For those that don't know AVX is a instruction set made for CPUs after 2011 which some CPUs lack.

Its extremely rare to find a game with AVX as a requirement and most games that does get it patched out soon after release like CP77 itself.

Edit:
How to know if your crashes are likely AVX related:
- Your processor is made before 2011.
- Game crashes when starting corpo lifepath.
- Game crashes after the night city montage at the end of nomad prologue.
- Game crashes after leaving the bar during the streetkid lifepath prologue.
- Game crashes everytime you load a savegame in which you are in the city proper.

I faced similar problem.

Friends, I have exactly the same problem. I calmly played the game on version 1.23, and here it is again. Crash when loading a saved game and crash after the nomad prologue. At first I sinned on mods, but even after completely removing the game, cleaning all folders from the game and reinstalling it, the crashes remained. We are waiting for the fix from the AVX instructions.

i appreciate your post but how do i actually fix the game? is there something i can download from their site that will let the game run?

It had been officially fixed before seems they don't test their patches before release, there was a mod on nexus that removed AVX requirements too but its outdated and doesn't work with the current version i don't know how to fix it maybe try asking the mod authors on nexus for a update, or wait for another official patch that removes it again which might never happen.

It looks like there is a chance for a fix to appear. This version does not work yet.

For the dimwits in the audience (i.e. me), can you explain in a bit more detail what the actual problem is?

Is it that the CPU has AVX (active vector extension) and the game doesn't use it?
Is it that the game needs it but some CPU's don't have it?

I'm guessing it's the second one? Is there a list somewhere of CPU's that have/don't have AVX? Or AVX-2 or AVX-512?

My patch download is at around 85% after 20 hours. Yes, pity me that I'm stuck with a 4mbps DSL connection where I live. When it's finished, I'm hoping I don't have any problems, but if I do, it'd be nice to know where to start looking. Thanks.

System has an I9-10900K.

Same here. Crashes every time I go near main city or try to load save in it. I have also old cpu. Guess they forgot to support old cpus again?........

Your I9 is fine as far as AVX goes you shouldn't have any problems with AVX crashes its only a problem for people with old processors made before 2011 like some I3-I5-I7s first gen if your game crashes its likely something else unrelated.

No idea if the OP is correct or not but, for anyone wondering if they have this "AVX thing", any processor that meets or exceeds the official minimum requirement in the store page of this game has support for AVX.

Remember when if your CPU was too old, you couldn't run the game? Pepperidge Farms remembers. Heck, used to be if it was over 2-3 years old, good freaking luck. If you have a CPU without AVX, time to upgrade, or quit buying cheap crap new ones.

Nobody asked your opinion if you don't have any issues move on with your sodium elsewhere, this topic is to help people understand their game crashes and find possible solutions not elitism.

Why? I think my opinion is valid, since AVX does a lot for game stability. Many new games come with it, and people like yourself get upset that the game won't run, ruining the experience for people who actually upgrade more then every decade.

Cool, thank you. If anything goes wrong, I'll start looking elsewhere first. 91% and counting.

As a side-note, I have over 100 hours in this game essentially bug free. The biggest hitch I've ran into was when an NPC who's name I forget wouldn't get in her truck after I rescued her. A quick search on the phone said "save and reload," which worked the second time I tried it.

Plenty of GLITCHES (things floating in the air, half-people appearing from nowhere, drivers without cars, people talking over each other, etc.), but no game-breakers or CTD issues YET.

If I start having a bunch of them, I'll be sure and mention it here as some sort of confirmation that this patch is borked. Literally nothing else has changed about my rig. I9-10900K, GTX 2070 Super, plenty of RAM, ZERO mods installed for this game. Let's see what happens.

Kind of excited, actually. Either it'll work fine, or I can lose my ♥♥♥♥ all over CDPR like everyone else here.

What will it be? Stay tuned. Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel!

A little humor never hurts though. I agree with the "help, don't berate" mentality (at least here, I'm an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the MW5 boards), but the Pepperidge Farms crack made me laugh.

I'm old though, and I remember those commercials. And the pop culture references more recently.

Some people are noticing improvements in FPS and smoother gameplay. This might be a reason why. Makes sense if AVX was taken out and then reintroduced in 1.3. I can't find any sympathy though. If your CPU is 10 or 11 years old and you think you are going to play a game like this you are out of touch to begin with.

That's like complaining your PS5 games don't run on your PS3. Get real.

Is it so hard for you to understand that avx implementation can be optional since the game was working fine for me and a lot of people just before 1.3? Do you know the fix for the last avx crashes back in 1.0 was a simple hex edit in the game exe and there is no reason they can't just make it so the game detects automatically if your processor have it or not and use if it does? like i said to the other guy if you don't have problems and want to be elitist move on.
