Blocking and parrying not working in fist fights?
This is not a request for assistance. This is a PSA.

In version 1.3, the game is still bugged when it comes to fist fights, at least when using gorilla arms.

If you find that blocking and parrying don't work (i.e. you still take damage despite doing each properly), and are using gorilla arms, you're experiencing this bug.

Fortunately, there's a relatively painless workaround, which is to go to any ripper doc and swap out your gorilla arms for any other type of arm. Then talk to the doc again and put your gorilla arms back on.

Now return to the fight, and you should be able to block and parry.

Just remember that fist-fighting in this game is really badly implemented, just as it was in Witcher 3. Blocking won't work (regardless of this bug) if you've just thrown a punch, so don't be too aggressive. Only attack when it's relatively safe to do so (e.g. after your opponent has made three attack attempts that you've either blocked or parried). Otherwise, it's block and parry - especially the latter to do some damage. It's actually not quite as bad as Witcher 3, where basically the only way to win fights was to do nothing but parrying. Just keep a save from just before the fight starts, because unless you're playing on easy difficulty, it only takes one or two hits to lose, even if you've actually blocked those hits but the bad mechanics prevent that block from working.

Cdpr Ctrl c Ctrl v'd the boxing into this game right out of their previous games and attempted to pass it off as content. Its pathetic how lazy and obvious this is.

It's a stupid mechanic built on armor bypassing damage. Even worse is that the one mod that used to provide armor against melee damage is has now been removed.

Unfortunately, it's a matter of timing. Time it right and it works, time it wrong and you're hit for 80% of your health. I won't be doing the brawler fights anymore; good luck to you.
