Overwatch sniper rifle only a rare / iconic one?

Hi. I got the Overwatch sniper rifle from the riders on the storm mission. But I only got a rare blue one. If I load an old save and do the mission again, is it possible I may get a legendary one?

You can craft an epic and then legendary one if you have the skills.

I never knew you could upgrade rarity! so far the upgrade button only increases the damage for me. I will look up some guides.

You have to do it from craft screen. And to he grease monkey perk is necessary for crafting Epic version.( Tech ability level 12 under crafting tree)
And edgerunner artisan for crafting legendary.( Tech ability 18)

I'm unable to craft Rare Overwatch sniper rifle with enough components and Grease Monkey perk. I scrapped the Overwatch I got fro Panam.

Most iconics start out rare. Only a few start out epic, and I don't think I've seen one start off as a legendary, even at level 50. Point is to upgrade them. Which sucks if you want to use an iconic but didn't invest in crafting skills. But the extra effects are usually overkill anyway. I only have Satori at Epic quality, and it's still absolutely absurd

You need the base weapon in your inventory to upgrade. It's not like a regular crafting spec.

I got Johnny's revolver legendary.

That gun slaps. Shoots through walls, no charge up, and it has a freaking flamethrower attachment. Shooting someone once in the chest, doing a slide, and then setting them on fire is one of the most badass things you can do in this game

Thing that sucks about this, is when I picked it up it had a legendary colored icon. So naturally, I was expecting a legendary weapon... I almost didn't think I even had it because when I looked in my inventory trying to find it, it was fcking rare..... wth?

Iconics show as legendary now even when a lower level so people don't miss them.
