Tech/Smart vs. Power
I'm using a tech build and have been looking at comparisons between the three weapon categories. Of the three, power weapons seem to be the least interesting and effective. Are power weapons really the worst of the three, or are there builds out there that could make it competitive against tech/smart?

Doesn't really matter, you can pick any kind of weapon and wreck through the "very hard" content without investing a single perk point into its type's tree, as long as it's scaled to your level

Tech, Power, Melee, whatever
Balance isn't just absent, it's in the negative

Smart is for people who can't aim.
Tech is for people who want to win fights without taking damage, but the only tech weapon that doesn't suck is the precision rifle.
Power is for people who want more dakka.

Lol Bending bullets way funner ;)

I modded up my Skippy with critical chanse, upgraded it and it's so far 447dps but it kills most of the enemies from headshots.
The main OP is smart sniper rifle with 10k critical damage to the head everytime.
I hated smart weapons before, but now I like them. There was this one guy in this forum that we talked about max armor in game, he used smart weapons, he got like 1k DPS on each slot, I decided to give them a try and crafted Ashura and it hits 1 shot with 10k crit, also got skippy with it's 450dps (so far but 2k critical damage).

legendary ping + cyberpsycho + contagion = easy mode. wipe up the rest with overwatch sniper or tech weapons or any other legendary quickhack. no need to ever even get close to anyone or enter any building in 99% of the cases.

And if you hack your save file, you can win without even starting the game.

That's... not *my* idea of fun. But, ... whatever floats your boat?

(There's also more lethal netrunner builds than the contagion approach. Netrunners are fragile characters, but they have enough advantages that that doesn't matter. Still... I imagine that in future patches they will see increased challenges and maybe different approaches to level adjustments. Anyways, for now, I have set aside my netrunner and am building a brawler.)

Power is a bit more consistent than Smart weapons but less than Tech, which can consistently hit targets due to penetration. It's technically the "least interesting" because ricochets are extremely hard to use effectively, and is just inefficient when compared to other "cover-breaching" options such as grenades and penetration (or even just Kereznikov-ing in). But, if a skilled player is able to land ricochets consistently, I could see it becoming very interesting in terms of gameplay (i.e. makes terrain an even bigger consideration for combat).

For me though, I prefer using power weapons. I like how they look, how powerful the guns sound compared to the other categories, and just how reactive and simple they are to use. Hell, I stick to a regular Unity just because I like how it feels. But if you're talking about pumping out maximum damage consistently, the other categories are a LOT better.

Also, penetration in general needs to be nerfed. Being able to penetrate entire buildings is wayyy overpowered

I've always used power and don't see a reason to switch. I guess the ability to shoot through light cover would be nice.

Power...handgun, head shot, perk up stone cold = effortless killing machine.

I've been using Power weapons pretty much the whole game. Only started using smart weapons recently and that was just to try out Skippy. Smarts are definitely fun though.

Power weapons are just simple, straight forward guns. Easy to get used to. I never bothered with the ricochet feature. I like Crusher because of the large mag and reload speed and helps if you craft one with a status effect (I prefer shock so it's also good against robots).
I'm heavily invested in crit chance and crit damage mods and perks so I'm doing tons of damage regardless of weapon type. Fenris and Overwatch are both OP AF but that's more to do with their Iconic features than them being Power weapons.

I'm also pretty heavily invested in Quickhacks, have a Monowire and sometimes use that pimp cane with the built in shock. So most of the time my attacks are a random combination of things rather than using the same weapons and tactics every time. Keeps it from getting boring.

I just couldn't get into Tech weapons. I know they're powerful, but the delay of having to charge them up kills it for me, especially with my bad aim. In the heat of combat with a large group of enemies I end up shooting without charging anyway so I'm better off with Power weaps. If I want to shoot through walls I just use Overwatch. Also, a lot of Techs are burst fire or have other weird firing quirks which rub me the wrong way too.

You get Suicide from Voodoo Boys. You can farm a couple of groups of them over and over near Batty's Hotel. Or you can farm several groups of them further into Pacifica near the ripperdoc. Just keep going around the block or around the neighborhood and the same groups keep spawning to kill over and over.

Comrade's Hammer you get as a crafting spec from an org. crime encounter in Arroyo.

-well the Lizzy tech gun is kinda superman in this game. it´s the only tech gun i use
-Smart guns are good if you don´t wan´t to aim or are drunk as ♥♥♥♥ while playing. But fun i like them. OR maybe you think you play the fifth element and looking cool AF.
-And power weapons are cool. i use Rifle with silencer and sniper. Handguns with silencer only in Splinter Cell mode xD pew pew

the way i look at the weapon types is this

power weapons can have silencers. useful when trying to stealth through an area while still eliminating enemies. eg overture pistol with silencer is perfect for this with its high damage per shot and high headshot damage multiplier. there is even an iconic power sniper rifle with a built in silencer.

smart weapons as shotguns is king for run and gun since you will effectively have a longer range on your shotgun with all pellets hitting the enemy.

tech weapons like the tech precision rifle when you want to be lazy and kill everything in a building from outside behind cover in complete safety. just ping the first enemy you see then shoot everyone while behind cover.

Silenced weapons are a little buggy

Tech will always be the best since they allow charging shots and shooting through walls.

Tech, smart, power...Quickhacks deal much more damage. Why shoot a cyberpsycho dozens of times when you can just use system reset once and be done with it?
