The Chip overwrites ppl....why not just copy V onto a chip and overwrite an Arasaka tool
I mean...honestly...
If you playing Johnny's side...once Alt explains that V has 6 months.....why not ask her to store his engram to be written onto a chip (which you have the plans to) and then inserted to overwrite the mind of Oda or Hanako or just some random baddy whose body you happen to like the look of possibly whilst taking a road trip with your friends the nomads till the change happens.... Why cant you go full toast Arasaka and put Johnny in Yori...I mean was it too obvious or ?

Its illegal. There is a program the rich people sign up for. It copies you into a relic but its illegal to go from there. All the people on relics are in a vault somewhere. Waiting to be brought back when they make it legal.

That is definitely an option lore wise. You would have to find a suitable donor body though.

The baddies from Arasaka would be a bad choice, you can't strong arm them into that kind of situation.

There's no original backup of V. By the time they reach Mikoshi their consciousness is partially Johnny's consciousness. It's like trying to separate conjoined twins that share a heart. Only one of them can end up with the heart after separation and the doctor doesn't get to pick which one.

and yet alt was able to. Those chips were designed to be used on people who are considered brain dead and V has the blueprints to the Relic. I'm pretty sure that find someone who is brain dead it's not that hard if you look. Example there's one person that is considered brain dead in this game in the mission called The Hunt

It's explained in the Arasaka ending actually.

The Chip did stuff to V's DNA and so it's REALLY difficult to find a compatible body. The only two times an Engram overwrites a person's body is with V/Johnny if you do Johnny's quests and ending, and with Saburo Arasaka and his Son if you do the Arasaka ending with Hanako / Takemura {spoiler]

The conjoined twins part comes up in the Arasaka ending.

Alt's intellect is way beyond that of humans. She can hack an entire corporate security system in a millisecond.

in one of the scenarios, Jackie's body was taken away by Arasaka.
I thought they would insert you into his body during one of the endings.
Although the thought of inhabiting Jackie's fat body makes me want to hurl.

Don't you talk about Jackie that way![www.google.com]
What about overwriting V's body with V's engram? I mean Johnny changed the DNA, why can't V's engram do the same!?

The biochip didn't change V's DNA it changed the physical structure of his neural pathways. Those pathways are arguably what makes a person themselves. With part of V's brain overwritten there was no complete version of V to transfer anywhere. His 'self' or consciousness was incomplete. An incomplete consciousness can't inhabit a brain long-term.

Arasaka probably used part of Johnny's engram to fill the gaps. Alt was able to replace the missing parts with fragments from random samples. Neither is a long-term solution in the game lore.

This entire thread should have spoiler tags on it.

Ah yeah it's illegal, apposed to shooting and cutting my way in there killing countless of presumably innocent arosaka employees and guards, using military grade explosives and messing up their computer network.

Still a fact of the lore. And an important complication.
