What's the point of taking part in these random gang fights.

because no matter which side you decide to help, the other side will try to kill you afterwards anyway. It's not like there's a gang reputation system, or even just a makeshift one, like if I helped you in that fight, at least don't shoot me right afterwards.

I ended up kind of treating them like noisy neighbors. Just hearing a bunch of gunfire from across the street and launching off some quick contagion and system resets like "Settle down over there, I'm trying to enjoy my synth-steak dammit!" XP

Yeah i do the same, but in my case they get suddenly chased by a swarm of angry bees. Not sure how this happens, might have something to do with my smart smg. :P

Volunteer community service - You can loot them and grab some goodies from containers they usually guard. Free XP and sometimes a reward from the NCPD.

Wasted endgame potential. Just like the game allows stealing in front of NPCs.

V is a one man/girl show and gangmembers are just grind dummies for loot and skill xp. Feels cheap, since you can kill any gangmember without consequences. After more than 130hours in game, all that is left to do is running around in some kind of godmode and looking for some of those trashmobs and policestars on the minimap to pop up.
