idk why anyone would bother to use a nekomata
when the Grad also penetrates walls without needing to charge it...

the <6 body penalty isnt an issue when you literally have an obstacle penetrating sniper rifle. all you need now is some wallhacks *cough* ping *cough*

i used a nekomata to beat the first cyberpsycho. It really didn't serve much purpose after that.

well it really depends on your build, if u dont want attribute points in body at all then you wont be able to use the guns that require it hence boosting that charge up aspect with the tech tree allows u to give it stupid power even if its damage is inferior

I dunno why anyone would use a sniper in the first place, when you can get a Quasar and shoot through walls anyway. In rapid succession. And score 500k headshots with it...

Sadly this is pretty much the case. You can use any gun (or melee) weapon type and still 1 shot a majority of the game.. even without speccing into it, and on the hardest difficulty in the game

By 'majority', I presume you mean Smasher, and the only reason it's not a 1-shot for him is because, apparently, he becomes invulnerable for a few seconds once you get him down to 20% or so.
The Nekomata becomes available much earlier in the game than the Grad (at least in my play through where I'm doing all the side quests before the main quests) and has better synergies with tech builds if you didn't sink many points into reflex. Other than that, yeah it's hard to go back to it once you get the Grads. I don't even know what the body penalty for it is.
