So... 1st person driving
I seriously want to enjoy it for the sake of immersion. But my god... Reversing is impossible.

Okay, I get it. It's the future, 2077. All cars have cameras instead of side/rear-view mirrors. Hell, in our world, in 2020, some cars also have those already! It's a nice touch and all that. But... If only any of that actually worked!

Like, why not add a rear-view screen inside the car interiors? Like ARMA 3 has that on high settings.

Or maybe a pop-up window somewhere on the hud when you're driving in 1st person and trying to reverse. After all, a lot of the stuff in 2077 is already done via "wifi" anyway, so why not just connect the visual implants to the car as well to see from cameras, eh?

Why none of that was added? :( Guess back to driving in 3rd person... Because it's way easier not to crash your car that way.

Yeah it's mind boggling how there's no rear view LCD camera panel anywhere or old-school side mirrors. Especially when several cars have literally no rear view windows.

yes and the game is broken

exactly! found only 2 cars which are ok to drive in 1st person

Agreed. That is annoying.
Also the head height in FPS driving needs to be increased and/or adjustable by the player. Can barely see the road in most cars.

Something against mirrors? No it has something against driving as a whole. The driving is terrible

First person sucks,
"oooooh I can't even tell whether I'm standing or crouching sometimes, so immersive"

what makes it even more hilarious is the FOV slider is practically useless in this regard

The limo car (can't remember its name) has such a tiny windshield at the front and its vertical field of view is so restrictive that you can't even see where you are going while driving forwards. Nobody in their right minds would want to drive a car with which you can't even see the road 10 meters in front of you. 1st person driving can be really immersive at times but anytime you have to look behind it's back to 3rd person.

It's not added because there's a huge performance hit to any real-time 'true' mirror, which is basically a 2nd camera rendering the scene. Modern high-end engines achieve a lot of optimisation by being based around the concept of a single camera. The environment reflections you see use ray-tracing and/or screen-space, both of which perform well without needing a 2nd camera but can only generate reflections that have artefacts, and/or are reflecting things already on-screen (think of a mountain reflected in a lake). These work for things that aren't perfectly smooth because the natural distortion/fuzziness hides the inaccuracy; for a perfectly reflective surface like a wing-mirror though it'll look wrong.

Its for this reason they limit 'true' 2nd camera mirrors to a highly restricted, switch on/off context where they can make sure the surrounding environment is simpler to reduce the rendering load of the 2nd camera, and lock the player to staring at the mirror, so they won't notice the FPS hit so much.

In short, they could easily make car mirrors/2nd cameras 'work', but the FPS hit would be so bad they'd be useless.

What they should undoubtedly add, though, is just holding a key to lean round and look out the back.

You DO realise that several vehicles have NO rear view window...right?

reverse won't work even with rear-view mirror cuz of stupid traffic.

Funny - Works just fine in third person mode. Driving completely blind however does not.

how about a little radar instead of mirrors? anything even a beeping, they just rushed it out. :(
the loose driving mechanics, i think they intended you to be able to drift when you do turns but it makes the car feel like you're driving a boat.
