Getting a save file to 8mb

how hard is it to get a save file to 8mb? i dont even want to play the game anymore if my save file will get corrupted, ive done some of the crafting exploit a little bit and my save file is already at 3mb and i havent even gotten outta act 1 yet wtf

Around 7mb is where you should start worrying, if you're just exploring and doing side content. If your save file is around 7mb, it's time for you to get on the main mission and finish the game. It's pretty idiotic, I know, but that's the only workaround as of now.
I think people who took photos in game, using the in game photo mode function, also bloats your save file by a lot, so avoid doing that.

The video posted on the previous page specifically says that selling, disassembling, and dropping items was tested and has no significant improvement on reducing the save file size. It never completely reduces the file size back to what it was before acquiring the items.

Yea, I sold off like 1,000 food items, all my components, most of my 10,000 grenades/scopes/etc... and it reduced my file size by 10KB (0.01% of a MB).

It seems the game keeps data on what you craft, and that is what is bloating the file. I have the analytics on, and am wondering if that is perhaps the culprit. I'm sitting at almost 6MB with only lvl 10 crafting and maybe 40% of the game done. Others on Reddit have said they are level 20 crafting with 100+ hours and at 6MB.

Hopefully this gets addressed soon.

My savefile was at 5.7 mb yesterday and today i sold 10k of my normal componants and guess what i am at 5.5mb now and i got bunch new of iconics and legendaries
seems like the crafting components are most of the issue even respeced my skill tree for crafting to remove junk turning into components...

most of people including me should finish the game before the 8mb mark but the problem is you can't play it after that.......... the fear that all you do in 90hr+ will be gone forever if you just pick one more item or craft one more med or just kill one more enemy is ruin the fking game is ridiculous. and it's not a fking bug if you go and read the main forum.

they design the game this way. a way to shoot their own toe so to speak.

Don't worry you know CDPR will increase their savefile data cap once they churn out them dlc's

Actually if its text data you could simple tell Windows to compress the file and probably get a good ratio. Just go to file properties > advanced > attributes. Text files are good candidates because a "dictionary" can remove more repeated data elements.

I am in act 3 with 102 hours on character and just hit 8mb and all my saves are broken. Never exploited and my inventory is clean. The toon looks to be done. Saves will not load... Hoping for a patch soon... Nothing I did ever lowered the size of my save file.

I hope you had multiple save files on that character because it seems like the bricked save file is gone forever. Or are you saying all the save files linked to that character is bricked because of one 8mb+ file?

Did you try this and test it ? I'm confused about the theory behind it. The actual data within the save file is not actually altered by compression is it ? So all the event and item ID accumulation within the data of the file will still be the same - and so hence when it comes to be read the CP2077 executable, it will still have to read through an effective total of over 8MB's worth of data, meaning the file is still bricked. Correct ?

I remember Dead Island had a save file bug like this that was caused by the same fundamental programming errors. In basic terms, the cause of the save file issue in that game is the same as the cause of the issue in CP2077, and Dead Island was released way back in 2011 lol ! Baffling that even big dev studios are still making development errors like this today.

Do devs not talk to each other ? Do they not learn form each other lol ??

how do you check file size anyway?

go to your c drive>users>whatever your user on your pc is>saved games>cd projekt red>cyberpunk 2077 then the saves are all there
