This isn't an RPG...
This is a cinematic looter shooter.

I fail to see any elements in this game that are at all evocative of a role playing game. Even stretching the definition to the bizarre modern interpretation of "it's like skyrim," it just doesn't fit any criteria.

Yes agreed, it is indeed an RPG.

Its a open world looter shooter with RPG elements but not really one kinda like borderlands with dialogue choices.

If this isn't an RPG than neither is Skyrim or Mass Effect or Fallout.

The only reason older RPGs were turn based and slow was because the tech wasn't there yet to provide an action RPG experience.

Qualifies as an RPG as far as I am concerned.
You play the role of V
Plenty of customization and RPG elements (attributes, skills, perks, attachments, cybermods, etc.)
The storyline is interesting enough to keep me interested in what is going to happen next and the side quests are GREAT.

Weird how everyone has a different definition of RPG, isn't it?

Dude has 4 hours he hasn't even made it to the part where you can customize perks and cyber mods LMAO just looking for a reason to complain like 75% of the other posts

Well every game qualifies as an RPG because you have to take the role of the main character. RPG isn't really a genre per-se but it's used as one to describe a certain type of game.

It's not an RPG. If you guys ever played a real RPG, you would know.

No reason to get mad about this, call it as it is: it's a story driven action game in a stunning but lifeless open world. Not more, not less.

Also, I don't get the loot critique. It's probably supposed to be immersive like Skyrim; enemies wear armor and weapons too and drop these when killed. You don't need to pick everything up.

That said, I just posted in another thread that after 30h of CP I got bored and stopped playing, without even finishing the main story. I installed Skyrim with mods again and damn, it's so much better and more immersive than this. And even though Skyrim is also not the perfect RPG (like DOS2 or Pathfinder), it still has so much more choice. Join the factions, become Werewolf, Vampire, so many different playstyles etc.

I have played what I am sure you would define as "real RPGs"
I imagine planescape torment, disco elysium, and baldurs gate games qualify as "real RPGS to you?"

Guess what, I would still define this game as an rpg...

Like I said earlier:

I just can't with people like you

It's mind boggling

You play these paths for 10 to 20 minutes each in the most disjointed narration possible, then trigger 6 months montage, and then you just get the same exact V as everyone else
Stop trolling, each path has distinctive dislogue options and NPCs react different to you. You also have characters in a game from your background who you can associate with.

this is more of an RPG than skyrim is. You actually get dialogue choices here unlike in skyrim.
