[SPOILERS] All Endings Discussion
So I just found out that, in every ending, V dies. There are one or two endings where a construct of V maybe lives on, at some point in the future, but for all intents and purposes, V's soul dies.

Not so subtlety, one of the major, consistent theme's of the game is death and how one cope's with it. I can't help but feel this was a poor narrative choice for an RPG, where the player slowly builds up their character and grows attached to them, only for, in the end, to choose their style of execution. With the writers backing themselves into a corner, where there is no chance at saving V, they had no choice BUT TO kill him.

It comes across as a very 'Mass Effect 3' style ending, where the developers were so dead-set on telling their story, that player-choice is thrown out the window. I mean The Witcher 3, a game about already established characters could end in multiple ways, whether happy, bitter-sweet, or sad. But my own character, I made, doesn't get a happy ending, whether I like it or not?

What do you think?

A happy ending would've felt cheap, there was no question at some point V would need to make a serious sacrifice.

Johnny constantly reminds you to never trust Arasaka, and the other side keeps reminding you that the condition is terminal and they can only try their best no guarantees.

My favourite ending is when V signs the contract with Arasaka, it's emotional and leaves it open ended for a sequel.

This should be in the story discussion.

That was the ending I got as well, but it's not very satisfactory. V still dies, a copy of him will carry on his name, [h]maybe[/h] because at that point he's corporate property. I do hope they allow you to carry on after the game ends to see what will happen in a future expansion.
I fully agree, my problem with the endings is that there is literally 0 reason for V to be part of most of the stuff going on. People will probably hate me because it seems as if most of them like Jack, but in the end he just killed V multiple times by being an idiot. And due to the way the prologue was cut together I can't help it but be incredibly pissed, because there is no chemistry between him and V and the game never gave the player a chance to say "♥♥♥♥ off" which i wanted to do the moment he started to talk about lunch. He is an okay person but a fool and it was blatantly obvious he'd be V's ruin, without any redeeming history between them that would have justified V's sacrifices for him.

Also i fundamentally disagree that a "happy end" would have felt cheap. The story of CP is generic and at many points (as far as i can tell after finally seeing most of it) doesn't even really add up, so the multitude of blatantly bad endings feels as forced as the rest of it. In fact the most sense it would make if there was a path where you literally miss all of the story missions because you said "nah i work alone" right at the start and spent the days in Nightcity as a merc who may or may not make a name for him-/herself by doing jobs like everyone else.

Yeah that's the underlying theme, does the soul actually exist? Is Johnny Silverhand and Saburo Arasaka actually real since they're both digital copies of lifelong memories.

I watched alot of Ghost in the Shell and Blade Runner...

I played space ending, but didnt sign contract.

I imagined that after months of torture and brainwashing i would escape space facility, get down to earth, and being character in first teaser. With superior implants and lost memory, magnum opus of arasaka, escaped from them, and all police and arasaka chasing me.

I loved my ending, letting Johnny take over and go to Arasaka with Rogue just like old times and then in the end giving V back her body. You finally make it, you're the queen of the afterlife, but get dumped by Judy because you won't be around forever and she needs something more permanent and it's bittersweet to see it happen then you take on the biggest mission yet so that you may be remembered forever knowing you dont have long left you reach for the sun, floating high above the world, alone, realising the cost of becoming the best and in the credits, seeing all the people that you touched and influenced reaching out to you and asking about you was so emotional, i dont even wanna see the other endings this one was so perfect for me

I don't know if you're randoms or what, but in not a single ending does V dies. What is happening with you guys, are you dumb? I have to ask. When he refuses to sign contract or any other ending, he always has 6 months left to live where he is focused on finding a miracle solution for life. <--- WHERE THE PROLOGUE IS OPEN TO HAPPEN

Signing for Arasaka literally in translation means that V gives up and hands his destiny in someone elses hands who probably (high probability) will never help him. Evidence shown from Mishoki or how is called the ''soul prison'' where were store a mass number of people. Even before you sign for Arasaka Johnny tells you something in a fashion that you gave up and sold your principle, soul and life.

When you go for an ending for example with Panam, you clearly see that Johnny was touched, he saw a part of himself in you and as you slowly return to your body Johnny tell you something in means " Never stop fighting, V " or " Always keep fighting, V " also translated as " It ain't over, till is over "

Can't believe I'm triggered at this so much.
Like HOLY man, how you people can come to those conclusions when they aren't in the game? HOLY FK

I agree OP, I both loved the endings and felt disappointed that I couldn't get a happy end to be honest. I love happy endings and screw the narrative that there is no such thing as one.

1st ending I went with arasaka and honestly I think it fits, as yes they helped us, but in a really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ corporate way, with hanako just forgetting about us and all.

reloaded and went with glory end and honestly, blue eyes never mentioned what they were offering for the crystal palace job and I'm going to hold out for a cure, no matter how unlikely.

I feel like you missed out on the rest of the game, yeah, the 1 Panam ending leaves a small window of hope that you might be saved, but what makes you think that (after playing the game) in Nightcity exists a wonder that would save V's life? (Edit: this refers to all other 'you might find a cure through a miracle' endings that are not 'leave with Panam & the nomads')
If anything CDPR went the most cowardly way and couldn't even bring themselves to at least be honest that it doesn't really matter what you did at any point of the game and the ending always is "V most likely dies because of other people's stupidity" with the player being little more than a bystander during the entire game.

Also if it triggers you that other people have a different (and most likely much more realistic) perception on what the endings imply, after the entire game put a lot of effort into hammering in your head how horrible, hopeless and melancholic the world of CP 2077 is i can only scratch my head in wonder.

The fact that I can keep playing but loading the last checkpoint feels like ♥♥♥♥, I would rather an ending were I could keep playing with no main story missions avaiable.
