So..let's talk about Keanu Reeves..
Look, I like Keanu as a person and sometimes as an actor.. but in my opinion there seems to be so many things wrong with his presence in this game. Was it bad direction? Poor choices? These are all the things I've noticed so far, about 24 hours in the game:

- His acting.. is just.. boring. His voice in monotone and pure cringe
- The whole premise of him being a rockstar is really laughable. --> OK, I understand there's a story behind it.. but still.
- His character model looks terrible. In comparison, the body model of Jaime looks almost lifelike. I don't think Jaime is even based off a real person. WTF happened?
- The way you're forced into playing this character's memories are super annoying. I don't want to play him, and I don't like being forced to use his only pistol weapon. Also, his one-off lines that you're forced to choose are really terrible choices.

Discuss? What's your opinion?

Listen, Keanu is no Adrien Brody, he was never a good actor. But he gives autographs to the kids and his sister died.

People like Keanu. He might not be a good actor or voice actor, but that doesn't mean anything. Marky Mark makes millions and he is no actor as well - except for a movie or two.

You don't necessarily have to be good to be successful if you are in the right place at the right time. And Keanu had some great roles over the years. Not many, but Matrix, Constantine, Chain Reaction etc. He is very lucky and people love his persona.

Johnny Silverhand was a character designed in 1988 and I'd say what we get is almost precisely what Pondsmith was going for.
I guess he might be obnoxious to people who expected a fun and relatable character, though.

Nicolas Cage would have been funnier, I think.

you didn't know about johnny silverhand before this game, i assume.

He feels a little miscast to me but I guess they wanted as much driving force as possible behind the marketing.

ik were talking ab keanu. at times i def agree, however i thought he was great in comparison to male v. dudes accent was all over, tones didnt match. I heard the female v is better so ab to try that

I think he doesn't sound angry enough when the game says he is, but his overall "I don't give a ♥♥♥♥" attitude is the point. Being a rockstar also has legitimate reasoning behind it, which you find out in the game.

Voice was weird for the first few missions, later on it's very on spot i think.

It would’ve been nice to have an extra arc without Johnny Silverhand. Maybe give him a separate body from V at the end of the game.

Don't know who's idea it was but it was probably Mike Pondsmiths idea. Johnny was always a Rockerboy since Cyberpunk 2013 which was released in 1988

I don't know if acting was bad, I mean it reminded me of his Johnny Menumonic movie, and his persona was about the same.

His dry unemotional responses were about the normal I have always seen in the majority of his movies. ( with exception of the Bill and Ted stuff )

Mostly I found him just a reminder of the doom and gloom of the probable out come to the game.

as to forced into playing all of his memories I remember a couple like that ( I assume was for plot ) but others I had a choice to refuse.

Honestly I think they tried to monetize on the fame of Mr.Reeves. Honestly I find the voice acting a bit flat.

It is neat seeing him in the game and I am a fan of his, (and I think he's a great person), but yeah... they should've casted somebody that can portray emotion into his speech more.

The character he is portraying is well crafed and Keanu (and the animators I guess) have made a good job. The more you play, the more you undertand Silverhand's motivations and what he really wants.
So, all in all, Keanu's job here is excellent in my opinion, in most parts of the game I just forgot that is in fact Keanu Reaves, I think that is a good indicator of the portrayal of Johnny silverhand.

Nevertheless, I think this is one of the excelent features of this game. The face animations, gestures and subtle mood hints during a conversation are trully unique, I have never seen anything remotely similar in any viodegame.
