Clarification on CDPR refund stance
MAJOR UPDATE
https://nordic.ign.com/news/42423/cyberpunk-2077-cdpr-says-it-will-refund-copies-if-players-cant-get-them-from-stores

So if you bought the game on Steam and want a refund email them at helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com and you will get a refund per them regardless of hours played it appears

So per CDPR here - https://en.cdprojektred.com/news/important-update/

Several points i'm hoping for clarification on

Finally, we would always like everyone who buys our games to be satisfied with their purchase. We would appreciate it if you would give us a chance, but if you are not pleased with the game on your console and don’t want to wait for updates, you can opt to refund your copy. For copies purchased digitally, please use the refund system of PSN or Xbox respectively. For boxed versions, please first try to get a refund at the store where you bought the game. Should this not be possible, please contact us at helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com and we will do our best to help you. Starting from today, you can contact us for a week up until December 21st, 2020.

They are saying ONLY console refunds
For copies purchased digitally, please use the refund system of PSN or Xbox respectively.
And they are saying they will only attempt to help you via the email they provided for BOXED PHYSICAL COPIES

For boxed versions, please first try to get a refund at the store where you bought the game. Should this not be possible, please contact us at helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com and we will do our best to help you.

So these refunds are ONLY for console versions correct?

Also the email is only if you have a boxed version of the game correct?

Also has anyone seen anything where anyone ACTUALLY got a refund by using that email? All the news articles i've seen state that they aren't aware of anyone actually getting a refund from them.

Again to clarify CDPR's stance seems to contradict what a moderator said here in regards to getting a refund on steam -
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1091500/discussions/0/2988665684347262838/?ctp=4#c2995421717749468268

If a platform doesn't want to refund your game, simply send a mail to "helpmerefund@cdprojektred.com" and they will help you get your game refunded. You can do so until the 21st of December. :)

Latest wrinkle, people who use the email now get a response saying no refunds, and they will get back to you "by the end of the year"

**EDIT 12/18

Update on CDPR's original "Refund Offer"
https://www.gameinformer.com/2020/12/16/cdpr-walks-back-cyberpunk-2077-playstation-refund-offer

It was later revealed from a recent conference call that the studio never spoke with Microsoft or Sony prior to making their statement to ensure that digital refund practices would allow for refunds, resulting in another wave of miscommunication between the company and its fans.

The original offers of refunds were shown to be a flat out lie and the company then denied any special refunds were available.

CDPR was never able to get anyone a refund for a console version of the game. Their claim that you could opt for a refund if you were unhappy was nonsense, they meant you could ask for one but you would just be denied as per Sony or Microsoft's refund policy. So it was never a thing. No retailer is responsible for giving a refund, no arrangement has been made by anyone to refund people's purchases.

Oh Also - https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/318350-cd-projekt-red-denies-any-plan-to-offer-refunds-for-cyberpunk-2077

They have denied they are offering refunds.

Anyone who has purchased any title on the PlayStation network or the Microsoft storefront can ask for a refund, and if it’s made within certain boundaries, usually related to time, usage and so on, can ask for that refund. Our procedure here with Microsoft and Sony is not different than with any other title released on any of those storefronts. I want to state that clearly, as there seem to be certain misconceptions.

The SVP of business development, Michal Nowakowski, stated that the only refund CDPR was referring to were the various refund policies offered by Microsoft and Sony.

So doesn't seem like there is even a refund policy, its very confusing as they state you have the same refund policy you would if you bought ANY game and that there is no special policy in place and they are telling us that we misunderstood them.

so all they have staited is basically "btw, did you know you may refund your game if you don't like it through psn\ms?".
and just providing some kidn of help to people who purchased physical copies.

Mods already said to email the devs and they will take care of it, so no, not just consoles.

That's what it sounds like, but i'm confused as i'm seeing people say that you can use that email for steam or for digital copies.

Sony won't refund your game. CDPR bad???!!

Do not forget the standard GOG Refund policy.
30day refund whatever happens.

They actually responded to my request, via helpmerefund email. So kudos there at least,

Haven't confirmed or denied just they will let me know before end of 2020.

Seemed like an automated bulk response.

Sent request 2 days ago for the record.

I am actually thinking of cancelling request, and letting them fix this, but my head says if the approve refund take it, and come back to it once it is polished and optimized. We shall see.

Moderators aren't usually employees of CDPR and yeah i'm curious because what the mods are saying and what CDPR is saying is in direct contradiction and as evidenced by that article a lot of people are confused to.

So i'm unclear if there is anything that clarified the stance. If those instructions did come from CDPR i'd love to see where because I have some friends who might want to refund but haven't been able to.

I bought it from GoG so i'll be able to refund no matter what but they got it on Steam.

Yeah but that doesn';t help the 4 million + who didn't buy it from Gog. I did SPECIFICALLY for that refund policy.

i purchased gog key from 3rd party. sent email to CDRP asking if they can refund it, but no response so far. well, it is probably because they recieve millions of emails about refunds already, so i guess we'll see...
GOG support page also has a disclaimer that they are overloaded

Haha first i did it because i wanted to support CDPR.
Now i'm glad i did so. I will finish the game asap and refund it.

Funny how i IMMEDIATELY got a SPAM WARNING COMMUNITY GUIDELINE message, after just writing TWO comments on this forum. Comments that merely point out the buggy nature of this game. Btw, now i can't chose dialogue option for some reasons. I'm a half male, half female weird character that can't even chose what lines to pick during conversations. Also, most of the NPCS glitch to their T-Pose. And i'm being warned about "spamming" just for reporting this. What is this world coming to?
No patch can fix Cyberpunk 2077
The lack of interactivity extends to the world in general. Your actions have no effect on what’s going on and you can steal any object you find in the environment without anyone reacting to it. Normally in RPGs like these shopkeepers get angry when you steal their stuff, not in Cyberpunk. You can’t customize your character, you can’t pickpocket NPCs, you can’t do much of anything.
That's just my opinion. And IMMEDIATELY get punished for it. Because that's the world we live in. Just ban away the dissenting voice.

this thread is about refunds which makes your message off-topic. please check other threads or create your own, we'll gladly join there and discuss it with you

It's just so confusing because it shouldn't be this hard. CDPR is saying one thing, moderators are saying another, then CDPR says something totally different contradicting what they previously said.
Aluvian Darkstar Dec 16, 2020 @ 7:10am
