why its using all 8GB of VRAM?
all 8GB VRAM of my 2080S is used, with 1440p VRAM usage up to 98% and 1080p 96%. on high settings with 3 ultras: volumetric lighting, fogs, and screen space. DLSS had to be balanced cuz if turns it off FPS drop to 25 instantly and GPU utilization shots up to 99% (which result temp of 68 Celsius maximum, yes i have aggressive fan curve and open chassis but still 68c constantly, and im not ok with it) or keep DLSS off but use internal resolution of 50%, but neither of those 2 options got an impact on VRAM usage. The only setting that made a difference (drop from 98% usage to a 93%...) is set resolution to 1280x960...

why it using all available VRAM? I never even dared to turn RTX on...

anyway to free up some VRAM? had to cap fps at 60 so GPU doesn't fry but now it's the VRAM limit... tbh the first game ever since me got my 2080S that using so much its ram omg...i know 3090 got a massive 24GB but.. why? what about us?

68c is not OK? That sounds very normal to me.

Actually I would be impressed if you managed to make it run notably lower than that.

Those temps are fine.
Is the game stuttering or running slow? if not ignore the VRAM usage, it could be that it's just allocating it all but not using it, if performance is ok and your temps are only 68, I wouldn't worry about it.

You have such a high end GPU but don't understand how RAM allocation works?
Also your GPU is fine up to 88c. and you're complaining when its 20c below it?
It will turbo and hover around a set temp, to whatever you have your power limit set to.

You're just here to complain about pointless stuff or anything else you need to know?

Yea 68c can be alarming if you're new to making gaming rigs but AMD used to run up to like 80-90c as a standard, hence the still living joke that AMD chips literally run on fire

If Tom's Hardware says your chip can handle that, its good

He is probably just new to PC gaming since he doesn't know his temps are far below anything alarming or how games can allocate the memory.

Because 2000 series wasn't very good and was extremely overpriced for what you were getting. It was a great bump in power if you're coming from 2 gens back. But kinda annoying and a host of problems if you werent.

Oh and side note - 68c is nothing in terms of heat for a GPU. You're fine go ahead and rock it fam.

In regards to your Vram, are you noticing any graphical issues? If you're consuming all of your Vram at 1440p. Back it off down to 1080p and turn your anti alising down a bit if you're capping out on you Vram.

My own 2080S runs at ~68c.. so I have no idea what this guy is going on about.. literally the type that buys hardware and has to nitpick every little detail.. and obviously has no idea what they're talking about lol

thats idle temps wtf is going on with the pointless CDPR Hate Posts everyone trying to be "cool" and jump on the hate train ?

Just google hardware questions instead of complaining on a forum about it when nothing is wrong.

Open chassis is something that you actually want to avoid since it will almost nullify overall airflow which is a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea.

Could it be possible that you've installed the entire driver/software package alongside Geforce Experience?

~70c is not idle temps lol

His main point is the usage of his Vram... In regards to Vram, if you noticing any graphical issues. When consuming all of your Vram at 1440p. Back it off down to 1080p and turn your anti alising down a bit if you're capping out on you Vram.

8GB 1070 here, highest I seen is about 70% VRAM, and thats at 1080p
Shift Dec 16, 2020 @ 3:25am
Temperature is beyond fine, VRAM usage isn't a issue. Nothing wrong here.

I agree it's not, but also superb for busy temps at 99%. For reference, my card busy temps are 88C and I'm not worried a bit. I dunno what the guy want, nitrogen cooled temps?

That's what you get when someone don't understand ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about hardware, they freak out with things that are just beyond normal.
