cyberpunk was so bad it lost the company billiions

Video game maker CD Projekt RED has lost billions in value since the ill-fated launch of its much-hyped Cyberpunk 2077 title last week, Monday stock figures showed.

Rolled-out worldwide on Thursday and reported to be one of the most expensive video games ever made, the dystopian-themed Cyberpunk 2077 triggered a backlash from gamers who complained it was riddled with bugs, performed poorly on standard consoles and even risked triggering epileptic seizures.

CD Projekt Red plunged 15.6 percent in early trading on Monday on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) before starting to inch back up.

The company's stock value sank to 32.3 billion zloty ($8.8 billion, 7.2 billion euros) on Monday, down from 42.7 billion zloty last week prior to the Cyberpunk 2077's launch.

The company issued apology on Monday vowing to "fix bugs and crashes" with patches in January and February and offered refunds to gamers who are not willing to wait.

Legit i don't understand how they could not fix this in anyway. This should be a lesson to devs everywhere. Until you yourself have made the game or gotten loans from actual banks or something stop relying on big companies. I would put money the reason they did alot of the things they did was from pressure from investors. This is getting stupid. Another company that once was decent is going to fail due to incompetence

stock goes up and down all the time. its not real value.
it just people with outdated 7+yh old tech are crying nonstop and market reacts to that. in a few patches it will all go back. cycle continues.

Yup, if people know how to look at stocks, they look at the stock now compared to, say, a day or two back. It's already slowly climbing back up again.
Game sales has already more than paid for the cost of making the game - been reported more than once.

Went to big... I might sound negative towards the game often here but the game has potential. Its just far to much ♥♥♥♥ out weighs the good. If they had went smaller with a smaller world and gave more TLC to smaller world? That would have been so much better overall.

I personally loved area you start a nomad, when I first started as nomad and the entire thing with the sheriff? Then meeting Jackie in the Trevor trailer LOL after trying to get my car running. I thought oh ya I am gonna love this game but then things began turning a little more uninteresting and nomad theme drifted away and I never felt picking a background even mattered.

I don't know, the game has some magic its like I said all the bad out weighs the good! Rather sad really the game could have been amazing.

If they stick to it, ensure the big January and whatever-next-month patches will massively improve the game, this can become a true gem, I agree.

Yea but the valuation of the company was primarily floated on Cyberpunk 2077. So its not actually losing any money or value, its just people have realized they are the company that made "The Witcher" games and not the next Squaresoft or Bioware.

I'd actually go with BioWare being worse than Bethesda at the moment. Bethesda may have flopped with Fallout 76 but they have other titles that still perform fairly well like Doom.

BioWare, on the other hand, has failed at Mass Effect twice, a Warframe/Destiny clone (ANTHEM) that was abandoned entirely, and their only hope being the remaster or remake or whatever they have planned for the old Mass Effect series and a new Dragon Age game which has had directing staff drop like flies from its roster.

So yeah, I'd say falling to BioWare levels is worse than Bethesda.

Bioware is garbo... next Elder Scrolls SP will probably be great. I have 0 hope for next mass effect or dragon age. Mass Effect Andromeda was the Cyberpunk 2077 of 2017... I take that back, Cyberpunk 2077 is better. lol.

every gaming company that is on the stockmarket has lost money, millions or billions....so what is new? even devs that operate on this scale lose money very often with their games, so by that logic everyone is bad? effing dumb people logic....... LMAO...

besides beforing posting try at least understand how stock market works and without making ignorant posts. the game doesn't need to be bad to lose money on the stock market, it could be the best game ever and many other things can make investors uneasy......... besides is so bad so they lost ..... they made their money back with pre-orders alone and they broke records on concurrent active players and a neat overall score....

the plunge is more not about the game being bad, but more about greed...... the announcement that the online was pushed back, surely didnt pleased the investors as they know how much as a cash-cow other open world games make from the online counterparts.... let say Rockstar cash-cow online money machine. So from the investors yeah they weren't happy in having a likely cash-cow ready from the getgo or very soon after, afterall the investors dont give a crap if they game is buggy but yes from maximize their profit.

please kids, educate yourselfs before posting here before spaming new posts crying because the game is buggy and i feel entitled to bash and talk trash. like i said, we ALL KNOW IT HAS BUGS, IT IS A DEMANDING GAME, so let them patch it up. Trolling will not fix anything..... xD
