Item stats differ when in inventory

I tried finding something about this on the forums but couldn't, so I apologize if it's already been answered somewhere. When I highlight a weapon at a shop or the stash, it shows a stat comparison to what I already have equipped. That stat will change once I put it in my inventory. For example, a katana in my stash said it was going to be a lot lower damage than what I had equipped, but when I put it in my inventory, it was a lot higher and actually better. Is anyone else experiencing this?

So I realized now (and it might explain it better) that things that haven't been in my inventory yet seem to have the wrong numbers. The knife in the stash said 0 on all stats until I grabbed it out. The same thing is happening with weapons stores, so I wouldn't know the real stats of the weapon unless I bought it.

Yeah. Just shows the base stats and not what they would be based on your skills if you equip it. It is strange and makes it weird when trying to figure out if something is worth picking up.

unless you meant from a store. that i can deffinetely understand but for that we have

Thanks for that confirmation! I was so confused by it and it made me feel like I was going crazy, haha. That is a silly thing for that to do. Oof.
