Game is way too bright, any way to change this?
I'm driving at the moment and I realized that the game is so bright during the day that I can hardly see the road. Is there a specific graphics setting I can change to make this stop? (Edit: This happens only in first person driving, which is strange. The game seems to think I'm indoors)

I sometimes notice this as well, recently during a mission I was a passenger in a car driving through the desert during the day, the sun was so bright it was hard to see the road Im pretty sure this is a bug or possibly a bug with ray tracing, i didnt try disabling RT to compare.

I havent touched any of the default brightness/contrast etc settings in-game but i've never had to in other games either.

Considering the amount of bugs currently in the game I wouldn't be surprised if this gets addressed in a future patch lol.

Someone mentioned elsewhere that this happens with a select few of the vehicles, like the Quadra types with varying levels of brightness (with & without RT). Not sure if this is what you're experiencing OP, but it's likely a graphical bug, as not all vehicles have this occurring through the front windshield. I'll occasionally swap the Avenger during the day, to something else, like a Caliburn or Yaiba Kusanagi CT-3X to get around the brightness issue for the time being.

I'm thankful the brightness isn't too bad on the Avenger, love driving around in that one.

Not sure if it will help, but there are ton of Reshade mods on the nexus already. Maybe one of them might help with your issue as most of them require you to turn off graphics features so it can be turned on in Reshade.
Curious about this, gotta give it a try and see how things turn out : )

Edit: I went through the lengthy list of addons for the most popular Nexus ReShade "Automonomous ReShade", and wasn't able to tone down the brightness specifically for inside the vehicles with brightness issues. I could've missed something since I don't normally use any ReShade addons. Gonna leave it at this for anyone else that might find a solution or whenever the devs patch it.

I believe. it is related to the Portion of Darkness on the screen. the culprit is the Post-Process effect that's try to simulate how Eyes adjust to brightness/darkness. it's the very old concept in gaming a decade ago. when not done correctly it'll calculated form bigger area (in this case. The whole screen) rather it should only calculate from smaller area where the center of the screen is.

in CP2077 case it mostly happen to the Car that have small windshield or covered in lots of armor. you can notice the brightness going down when you turn the camera to the closer side window.

not sure what can we do about it. or if there's a mod that let us adjust more Options than the game allow by default.

Could it be a problem with HDR? I remember once to launch Assassions creed odyssee and hat it to bright everything.. it all looked like as if a nuke hit.. lightflash i tried to scale the contrast down but in the end i had to disable HDR. Still not sure why its bugged sometimes.

yup looks like a hdr problem, disable hdr in the game settings untill you find a way to fix it.

There is a problem with 1st person driving when looking through the front window:

As soon as you turn the car and look through the sidewindow in the same direction it goes away:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2325202429

Edit: well not go away completly but at least you can see something. What I find strange is in this situation there shouldn't be all that light since the road has something over it.

Game's too bright in first person for some vehicles. Apparently it's a bug. Hotfix 1.05 mentions"

"Ray traced reflections should no longer seem too bright in comparison to the environment."

I use ray traced lighting, so this could fix it.

The people who keep talking about "just adjust your monitor" are clueless as to the actual problem.

I've had this sometimes occur in first person when walking out from shade into sunlight but I guess it's intentional, a little, to simulate adjusting to light.

When driving in first person, though, it's completely awful.

I'm pretty sure this is a ray-tracing bug where the "adjust your eyes" + ray tracing + limited FOV when driving and other ways the game's engine handles driving are all combining and building on each other exponentially to create a nearly completely white screen.

Only fix I know of for now is to change the camera to 3rd person for driving for now until they fix it.

i still experience this issue in patch 1.05. with or with out RTX on.

the Bright Ray traced reflections are also still there. ( like when you enter Dex car and see his super-bright eyes and sunglasses.

Oh man, I have this problem too! In my case it's more noticeable when you're inside a building and try to peek outside, the brightness will burn your kiroshis off.

After patch 1.05 everything is so bright even at night time, neon lights and particles effects especially the relic malfunction effects are specially hard to look at causing me eye strain and nausea.

I tweaked my monitor brightness and contrast, fiddled with in-game gamma after the patch but my settings remain on the low end yet still, same burn-my-eyes-off brightness.

EDIT: I played it just now, the roads are either reflective or too bright even at night. Yeah, gonna have to shelf this game to save my eyes.
