Ray Tracing causing crashes
Is anyone else having issues using Ray Tracing?

I have a 2080 Super. The game runs fine with Ray Tracing off. But as soon as i turn it on, the game crashes within about 20 seconds.

Ive reinstalled the game
Reinstalled drivers
Started a new game/deleted old save.

Seems like no matter what, Ray Tracing just makes the game crash.

Have you tried verifying game files?
What about updating every driver on your computer (not just the Graphics Driver) in Device manager?
Does your Computer suddenly overheat and causes the crash?
Is anything bottlenecking and causing the crash?

verify windows files? kind of a long shot but its always a possibility.

incase you've never done it before, run CMD.exe as admin, type
sfc /scannow

this will run system file checker. if you got an important component the game uses thats corrupt, this will find and replace it. if it finds nothing then i dunno. thats all i got for now. i'm on a 2080ti and running the game with raytracing all the way up fine, ish.

Oh ya i forgot to mention i verified the game files in steam. That checked out too.
I will check my other PC drivers now, Didnt bother with those as any other game i have runs fine.
Not a heat issue. GPU never goes over 74c CPU never heats up much i have it cooled well.
I dont see anything bottlenecking it really. My 9700k performs good, It never uses 100% ultilization in game.

Just finished the System scan in CMD.
"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them."

Booted up the game before i started i went to settings and turned RT off. Game loaded fine. Ran around for a few minutes. Everything playing fine. Paused and went to settings, Turned RT on, went back to the game. Worked for about 30 seconds and crashed. Flatline error. GPU temp was 67c and CPU was 45c

Not to necro an old thread, But I have the same problem, I am running the game fine at 1440 all high setting with with most post processing effects turned off.
But as soon as I turn on RTX or dlss or both the game freezes and CTD almost instantly.
I have already tried the basic trouble shooting steps(verify game files, clean install drivers, update windows, turn of OC's, turn off overlays) but nothing worked. It's not a deal breaker but it is annoying that I can't turn these setting on. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
I did have a weird issue were something turned my gpu power limit all the way down and locked it there, but a clean driver install fixed that(no idea what that was:steamfacepalm:)
My system
cpu I7-7820x oc'd 4.2
gpu 2080ti oc'd +75core +300mem
ram 32gig 3200mhz
game on nvm ssd that only has games on it.

Im still having the same issue as well. I have everything maxed out except for the volumetric clouds which is set at medium (huge FPS hit at higher settings and minimal visual difference in case anyone wanted to know) The game runs great with DLSS at quality. But when i turn on Ray Tracing, the game crashes within a minute or less.

Same here. Game crashes with Ray Tracing on but it seems to only happen in the city. I turned Ray Tracing on when I was in the badlands and didn't have an issue. The game crashed a few minutes after drving back into the city. CDPR needs to get their ♥♥♥♥ together

Interesting. I just tried this and you are right. The game works fine with RT on when im outside the city.. soon as i go into the city the game crashes.

With RT off the game works fine.

Sigh
Works on my machine. 2060. I only get like 40 FPS with some settings turned up though so I don't always use it. Without it I'm basically always above 60 FPS.

Check other ray tracing games. On my system i9-9900kf, 2080 ti ftw3 ultra, I crash on both cod:mw and bf5 with ray tracing on.

I'm suspecting a windows update as an issue. I rolled back my drivers and still no changes.

Interesting as well.. I played Deliver Us The Moon with RT on and the game crashed for me twice in 10 minutes.

So maybe its not Cyperpunks fault. Might be windows issue, or could be my GPU itself having isssues? hmmm

I have a RTX 2070S and I've been having the same problem with ray tracing in many games. The only thing that worked out for me was to lower down -150 core clock on MSI Afterburner.

I hope this can help you guys.

I also have an RTX 2080 super and never had any crash with the game in RTX Ultra. But then the game is pretty intensive processor wise (I have an i9 9900) hope you find the root cause

Which version of Windows 10 do you have? Is it newer than 1909? Later versions have HAGS (Hardware Assisted GPU Scheduling), this has been known to cause issues. If you have it and it is set to on, try turning it off.
