It finally works.

Second HDMI to reciever, and "windows sound setting" set to 5.1,
and reciver to "auto surround".

I still wish there where a good confirmation when a game streams 5.1, as there is for dts/dd 5.1 modes (reciver lights up telling it has a signal),
as it works now windows "shows 5.1 channels" even when the reciever plays stereo, so i had to go confirm.

As i think others have said, there seems to be a volume imbalance,
where the back/rear speakers are much louder, and the front speakers too low. for instance if i am facing a tv, it would be low, but if i turn around and the tv sound comes from the rear speakers it is about twice as loud.

Other then that, i am happy! ˆˆ

Nope, not on my 5.1 speaker setup. Hasn't worked since release. It's just super loud in center speaker a lot of the time, hard to describe, but definitely doesnt work. Tried with my 7.1 headphones and works great there.
Using my 5.1 speaker setup though i have to use stereo otherwise it's fckd

if i use my usb head set the sound is full of snap crackle and pop and the speech sound like every body is in a gold fish bowl... how ever if i use my x bone head phones i can run the dolby dts software app and sue the code from that to make it work on my p.c and every thing sounds fine it turns out from a quick rumage on project reds site this game uses dolby dts .

wtf
Still the case

yes even now still the case. they faulty detect dts 5.1 (spdif/toslink) as stereo.
one way to make it work is by installing voicebanana, but that obviously adds delay.
most other games work fine, so it seems Cyberpunk fails to properly detect and configure the speaker layout when using dts.

No it doesn't. I revisited the gamer after I got a 5.1 audio system and when I turn 180° at a speaking character, his voice still comes from the central speaker. The system works marvels in other games like Borderlands 3. Yet another bug for Cyberpunk. CDPR really messed this game up.

I am actually happy to hear that they STILL haven't fixed that mistake and that this is STILL a valid concern. Good to know. I would think they'd have fixed it by now, but knowing that they haven't is just as valuable.

I see this similar to you.
If the problem still persits, it should not be a problem to keep this discussion going.

Be sure you have correctly set surround in windows sound setings.

I had Denon AVR-2113, now Marantz Cinema 40 and it works great.
