This game attracted a huge amount of people, so you will find someone having a problem with absolutely anything.

For me, it's "detes" followed closely by "gonk" and "choom" - choom seems to be a bastardisation of "chum" so I can deal with that. Detes is obviously short for "details" - you hear annoying teen girls say that even today, so hearing my murderous psychopath saying it is awful. Gonk? No clue.

I guess it's part of the Cyberpunk culture, but this particular culture grates on me a little.

UnderRail has a whole range of culture and words and each location has different phrases and stuff, like calling people "zoners" and "pipeworkers" etc. Felt really cool and made every major location distinct from each other.

For some reason though Cyberpunk doing that just annoys me lol. I've been trying to filter it out.

EDs, eddies, Euro Dollars, that's about the only bit of slang I feel was actually given any major intelligent thought though lol. It almost feels realistic and believable actually, out of all the slang terms the game throws at you, eddies is definitely the least cringeworthy.

Honestly, if you read any of the source material the whole world is based on, they actually spared us from the cringiest of it. It was some straight c-tier comic book ♥♥♥♥ back in the day.

It's supposed to be the future. Dialect changes over time. The way young people talk today is nothing like how they talked even 40 years ago.

Only thing that annoys me that i often don't know what that slang means so the dialogue feels a bit confusing to follow sometimes.
Yeah some kind of an in-game dictionary would be nice. In the meantime, this will help you:

OP doesn't own the game. He can't even use the excuse of having the GoG version as well, since GoG have their own game forums.
Ehrm I own game bro. I have it on GOG

"People do not talk like this" where? When? In what time and age? Which kind of people are we talking about? In which universe?
Dominian Dec 12, 2020 @ 6:48am
It's only cringe, because the look, voices, choice of words, direction and sentence structures don't fit the scenario, the characters or the atmosphere.

Is there any aspect in which this game doesn't fail abysmally? Uninstalled and sadly I can't get a refund after 10hrs of "seeing if it gets any better". No, it doesn't. When Keanu Reeves made my character take drugs without it having any impact on him, my character or the story I was finally done. No wait, I had police spawn directly in front of me. That's when I rage quit and uninstalled. What a masterpiece! Masterpiece of crap.

"Biz" is from William Gibson.

Better yourself.

"Congratz" is the cringiest thing I have ever heard in my life right after "plz", "GG" and "U", can we get rid of those?

Just kidding, every generation has its fair amount of cringe and cheese, the problem is that every generation is too stupid to see they are the cringe of future generations, therefore they really have no right to criticize the style of another era.

1985: 80's are cool!
1995-2015: 80's are so lame and cringy!
2020: 80's were the coolest years ever!!!!
Just gonna say it, I think the slang is extremely realistic. People say stupid ♥♥♥♥ all the time IRL.

The only thing I don't understand is why they call doctor's "ripperdocs" instead of doctor, or even just... Docs... I get that 'ripper' probably implies work with implants, but it just feels like you're adding a word onto a shorthand version of another word that ends up being more syllables than the original word.
