HI all I had this same problem this morning. I was able to fix it WITHOUT having to redownload the game. I first had to free up some space on my C drive and then I had to launch the game from the files location for me it goes like this local C >>>Program Files (x86) >>> Steam >>> steamapps >>> common >>> Cyberpunk 2077 once you get to this file click on the one with the cyperpunk logo and the game should launch (or at least it did for me) good luck all!

After closing the game I tried to reopen it through steam and it was showing it was uninstalled again. I did some more digging and found that if you install the game again where the you already know that it is installed steam will just detect the files that are already there it took maybe 2 mins for this to happen and now the game is showing installed again.
Hope this helps

sounds like the common gta5 bug, where the manifest is lost. there should be an "appmanifest_1091500.acf" in steamlibrary/steamapps, that's the one for cyberpunk.

maybe try to copy this and put it in there, if it's different. (mind, i'm german, i just changed german to english in last line). if the appmanifest is not there, try to find another one and just copy paste this and change the number in file name to 1091500. do backup of your manifest before trying this.

I just woke up to this same problem minus the update. I just woke up to play on my day off after playing all night, and despite me already having the game installed and having a shortcut, it said that it needed to reinstall? Mind you playing on a PC.

Yep my game just deleted itself off my steam, I had 70 hours into the game. I come home from work and go to play it, and it says I need to install the game ???? Wtf

The game is Cloud saved, but backup your saves just in case.
