Wtf is going on ?! had 70 gb free space and now only 7gb?
Just ended my gaming session and to my suprise the game was downloading an uppdate, nice i thought until i checked my ssd, it was on RED, and in panic stopped the download.

So what the ♥♥♥♥ is going on, how ginormious is this patch?

oh boy.... the game has an huge archive folder which contains the game files and at the moment the patches are fixing many files of them. But for this it is needed to decompress these files and thats y the space is going lower during the update is running.

Same thing happened to me, but worse
I downloade the update, which was 1.4Gb, while it was installing, it slowly took up more than 58Gb of additional space. When it was done, the game was down to 57Gb, reduced from 62.8Gb...and it turned out the update corrupted 37 files, and I had to redownload the entire game again...
Strange thing is, while downloading, 62.8Gb is reserved, but the hard drive space keeps filling up past that any way, and with no extra files in the steam folder...i have to pause the download in between, restart the pc, then the space goes back to normal..This has not happened to any other game i own on steam...just cyberpunk

It has finished for me now, and it has gone back to ca 70 Gb free again, so only hade to download the 1.3 gb, probably will be the same for you so dont worry about the whole game downloading again, probably just makes a copy of the game on the spot as some sort of backup or something

Thank you for the info ^^
it sucks though, cos this is the only game that I have on steam that does this, like taking up essentially double the space during updates/installation/downloads...If this is going to be the case for all future updates, I may have to install on my HDD temporarily (Saving for big upgrade for summer 2021).

Same here, during update i somehow only had 100gb of 223gb ssd space free, after update back to 160gb free
