Funniest currency name. I could not believe this is what they came up with!

Plus US itself collapsed, its nothing more but a collection of independent states.

Eurodollar has been a currency in the game since the pen & paper games in 1990 If not even earlier than that.

I still don't get why Adam Smasher is doing servitude to Arasaka.
He owes them his life. He pretty much got turned into paste way back when he was just yet another Solo. Some Suit showed up and offered him a new Body for Corporate Service or certain death. First, he was allowed to do some freelancing, later on he got fully employed by Arasaka.
He doesnt care at all btw, as long as he gets to kill ♥♥♥♥. Absolute Psycho, this guy.

Half the point is that it sounds kind of ridiculous. In the Cyberpunk universe things are falling apart, and people just don't care anymore. The lazy name illustrates that. They just can't be bothered.
The lazyness is on your side you did not investigate why this is. It was already used in the original game in 1990.

I like it, I thought it was interesting they went with it. I was surprised because I didn't look into anything about the game before I bought it today.

Or Shadowrun's use of Nguyen. Most cyberpunk games view the fall of the US as inevitable, in part because they had a lot of their core concepts developed back in the 80s when things were going great for those at the top of Wallstreet and horrible for most working class folks. Bout the only thing that's really changed is that Japan's economy went sideways in the 90s and the Soviet Union collapsed

There is a bit more. Technological progress seems to be superfast in CP. Practical Cyberware is already in the 1990´s a thing as far as i remember.

cyberpunk 2020 was first released in 1988... and has been a name for the currency since then...
heck, they didn't even know that they wanted to name the Euro Euro back then...
back then the official currency for Europe was the Ecu.
and the Euro has only been released in 2000 or 2001...

the game devss for cyberpunk 2020 wer f-ing prophetic with anything happening, especially with the victimhood complex that they anticipated for SJW and every minority group in the first sentence of the rulebook...
