Windows 8.1 Compatibility when?
I don't understand why CP won't start at all. People are claiming to be playing the game on DX 11 which is what I have and I got the drivers..

I can run Witcher 3 at 60FPS with no issues whatsoever and CP isn't much of a leap in graphics. Is this going to be fixed in a patch? I've refunded because it literally wouldn't launch..

Not gonna do a full PC wipe for one game. Will re-buy though if it runs on Windows 8/8.1.

Your OS is older than last gen consoles. I mean at some point you got to evolve. Do you want them also to make it compatible with Windows XP ? seriously people...

It can be done without a wipe (most the time) and should be pre-licensed since you have 8.1

Actually I can't recall a rejected license, even on windows 7 machines. MS wants you off 8 and on 10. Find me a vista or 8.x machine in a production environment. 10 also runs a ton better than 8.x on limited ram machines.

Lol good one
If you stick with W8.1 then you're better off not playing games, honestly.

Can literally run every other AAA game.

What the specs on that 8.1 machine? Have a strong hunch it is not up to min specs.

*edit* game wise, win 10 runs better than 8 on the same hardware.

there is always a tipping point of needing to upgrade.

this is the tipping point for many people i guarantee it.

sure stay at an old os, but get left in the dust.

Swallow your pride and upgrade to windows 10, your OS is simply inferior, as is linux, there's no other way of getting around this, we are terribly sorry for the inconvenience but you need to come to terms that not all chips will simply fall into your lap. This is reality.

it will never be compatible lmao just upgrade to win 10

Soooo by 'Keep personal files and apps' does it mean everything? Because I've learnt the hard way in the past that PCs have a funny interpretation of what your personal files are..

There are people playing it on windows 7, but also there seem to be some unique issues for windows 7 users.

You can get windows 10 for free. You don't even have to link your windows 10 to your microsoft account. My windows 10 instances are not linked to my MS. Just turn off your internet when you install it and don't log in to your account when asked.

You'll have a local profile and can use WPD (dot app) to block all the windows 10 snooping you like.

But as others have said, not sure about your hardware.
Win 7 and 8 is "end-of-life". QOL and security patches has stopped and support is virtually nil.

I actually have no choice but to use Windows 8.1 because I have a project that requires software which is incompatible with Win 10.
(If you really want details, the program I need for the project--3DS MAX--has a Win 10 version, but it's damned expensive, so I'm on MAX 2013, cuz I afforded it back when it was new.)

Thankfully, I have a dedicated game machine.

But it's kind of rude to tell someone they shouldn't play games on 8.1 when there may be legit reasons they have to use it.
