Can't stealth kill with the Katana?

Attack does nothing except alert enemies, and the grab > kill feature doesn't use the katana/melee weapon. Is there no way to stealth kill with a melee weapon like the Katana?

Yes, power attack, if you do enough damage to kill in one hit its a stealth kill. You can do the same with the mantis blades.

It doesn't stealth kill though. There is not animation either. That's kind of messed up considering I could press f twice and instantly kill nearly any enemy from stealth.

It works the same as stealth kills with a gun. The difference is you can stealth kill enemies who will break holds. But for stealth killing with blades, I would reccomend the mantis blades as they allow you to leap forward and deliver your power attack in one motion. Makes crossing the distance to get a stealth kill pretty easy.
