I think you're thinking of the hacking minigame. These electrical boxes are a different thing, there's no minigame. You just press a button to "override" and V opens the box and rearranges some cables in an animation and that's it.
When you analyze the box it has data lines coming out and connecting it to other things in the area, so I understand there's supposed to be some connection there, but so far I've overriden three of them and as far as I can tell nothing happens.
I havent verified this yet. Sounds plausible.
