Why does my V wear underwear?

Yeah its weird that you get to select your donger in the character creator, can view it when stripping off all the clothes, but when you go to run around they're wearing underwear.

What the hell was the point of it all? I know this is no xxx game, also not the point I will be trying to make.

It was said that this had meaning in the game, dong sizes, breast sizes, landing strips, it will make an impact in the game. This was told multiple times. Yet, not once in any part of the game is V ever nude, not once was my genitalia mentioned, not once did make a difference. What was the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ point??

They mentioned they removed 3rd person to feel mkre immersive. Fine, OK, so besides the prostitutes and such. I thought, after a lengthy mission, let's go take a shower...so that I can feel this immersion that I still up to this point have not felt. I go to the apartment, do nothing as a there is nothing to do such as drinking or eating like in GTA, red dead or sleeping dogs. I decide, screw it, let me 'immerse' myself by having a shower. I take of my clothes and what do you know...i have to shower in my underwear. Last straw...really it is. What was the point of taking out 3rd person, at which point does this immersion kick in.

I really, REALLY expected more. I don't feel like me playing, as they said that is what they want the players to experience, I feel like V. So, no point for first person only. God, I hope they fix a ton of things in this game...but 8 years....for this this..."edgy" game..

No it isn't. The only time V will be nude is in the dressing menu, Even during sex cut scenes, e.g. River when you can see yourself in the window, V is fully nude except for underwear.

The point was exactly what the director described when talking about the role of nudity in the game. There was no misrepresentation, no bait & switch. The examples he used to illustrate what he was talking about did end up in the game. He never said or implied that V would be able to walk around nude in the game world.

for purposes of hype and marketing is the answer . they over hyped and under-delivered that's why many people are disappointed with cp77.

You are mistaken. The underwear was intended since at least six months before release. There was no bait and switch.

I think the fact that CDPR made nudity ONLY available during the menu to be more weird than allowing full nudity in the game.
It's a weird compromise.

(I'm assuming you mean "full nudity" and not just "nudity", as there are plenty of instances of the latter throughout the game.)
I thought so, too, but the more I played the more I got the impression that CDPR didn't want scenes with frontal nudity to be exploited for "unintended" purposes. You can't change camera position during sex scenes or when carrying the woman's body out of the bathtub. You can't go streaking or even undress for camera mode. It seems the more explicit nudity in the game appears under more "controlled" circumstances. While there hasn't been an explanation why, I assume CDPR simply didn't want the game to include pervert mode for perverts, so they retained creative control over the game's racier bits. I'm also under the impression this was not a last-minute change, but rather an approach that was decided upon well before release.

Whether the decision to censor V was made six months before release or after release is irrelevant as it wasn't marketed as such (the freedom to customize your gentiles made me roll my eyes but it was part of the game hype) and I could swear that at release you were naked in the shower cutscene and the nude mod wasn't necessary until the photo mode was patched in.
