Do I put a bullet in the Scavenger Leader?

I managed to stealth my way past the 2018 trailer part, not killing anyone since I didn't have to, but for some reason my "Defeat the Scavenger Leader" quest is blank. Am I supposed to put a bullet in his head to get extra exp, or can I just leave the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ alive? Note that the objective is not marked as optional.

When you get to the last area you have to kill the malestrom leader to leave.

He walked around a bit, so I just snuck up behind him when his back was turned. Maybe try scanning to distract him? You can take him down nonlethally for sure, to answer your question.

i have this bug as well. i'm back at my apartment and it still wants me to kill the scavenger leader... :|

I'm also encountering this bug after a nonlethal takedown. Throwing him off the building didnt help lol

Yep, kill him with a gun. My sneaky kill didn't complete this mission stage. But reloading from a quicksave and shooting him to death did it.
