You know, since games are like 100GB or higher nowadays and struggle fitting on disks anymore. Check the physical copy you eventually get and make sure it mentions Steam compatibility.
That's all you can do.
Truth be told I haven't bought a physical game in over 5 years now, so I probably can't give you too much information regarding that. Just double check things and never assume your physical copy will 100% be supported by Steam since it's a third-party.
EDIT
Sorry I misread, didn't know they'd have separate versions with codes in them
Codes are for the GOG version, but it still has achievements and auto updates
The Steam version is digital only.
this one does not, has been confirmed
Eh? If you want to use Steam Forums, you don't need to own the game. You can add it as a non-steam game and it'll work there. And you can keep it forever without it being locked to Steam.
Also, and this is key, you DON'T need to use GOG's launcher at all. They'll give you a standalone installer you can use instead. You can launch that from Steam without any GOG stuff opening.
