So if you plan on doing it through free wifi or something it'll likely take you a very long time to download the game or updates.
Isn't it usally done at the game server (online) for this big games?
And considering that multiplayer will be added in (near?) future the game will need to be online.
Save files. My Documents or whatever location it may be.
There is zero reason for a single-player, DRM free game to require an internet connection for playing. Zero.
But this is not a MP thread. This is.
They confirmed multiple times its coming after all expansions are out sam. Even with online mode it would be stupid and rly hurtful to both them and consumer if it didnt allow offline play. Itd make no sense and im sure they wouldnt do that. Itll be a good year and a half, two or more before mp implementation for sure. Especially considering cdpr might consider making much larger dlc for cp2077 then witcher 3 which they also said can happen.
It's not that far away from launch. And a game this complex will probably need som fixes and updates along the way.
I'm perfectly fine if the game will be online from start and that would be a wise thing to do aswell.
Why would they require a person to be online to play the singleplayer? That makes no sense and would make a lot of people mad. There isn't any reason for the game to be forced as an online only game, even if it launched with Multiplayer.
You're probably only referring to this game in particular, but always-online DRM has been a thing in so many SP games now. EA, Ubisoft, Blizzard you name it.
