Your chosen platform with Cyberpunk 2077?
This is going to be a "megathread" for discussions about the platform you're planning to or already did buy the game on. No reason to have multiple threads about the same topic just with a different angle in the OP.

I'm getting it on my laptop so I can take it anywhere I want without being restricted to my desk or a couch :)

No. A platform is a hardware platform.

Which equal:

Switch
Playstation
Xbox
PC
Google Stadia

Etc....

Game launcher programs like Steam, Epic Games Store, Uplay, Origin etc. Are referred to as DRM. Digital Rights Management.

Game launchers are also referred as platforms. Usually they are just referred as DRM if you want to talk specifically about not being able to play games without them. But for example if you want to know where someone buys a pc game, you ask on which platform they buy it. I've never seen anyone in my entire life calling Steam, Gog, etc "DRM" without "not being able to play without the software" as the conversation topic.
"Platforms" can mean pc, ps4, xbox, etc but it can also mean Steam, Gog, Uplay, etc and both versions are common used.

That's just people using terms in the wrong way. It does not matter either way because people understand the intent.

Factually Steam is a DRM. Whereas PC is the platform.

Factually Steam is a DRM, yes.
But there is no definition of the term "platform" in regards to "where a game is played". The term "platform" is not used wrongly. Platform can be used for pc, consoles, etc but it also can be used for Steam, Gog, etc. There is no official definition, it's just a term created (at least in this meaning) for where you play a game. And that can be launchers too

Maybe we should ask op what he meant by “platform”?

Platform =

"A standard for the hardware of a computer system, which determines what kinds of software it can run."

Goes off hardware.

Aka

PC
Playstation
Xbox

Etc.

Do you have a source for this definition or is this just your own understanding of the term and therefore not an actual definition in any way?

PC, because '' PC master race ''and also mods.
PS5 SSD is masterace and Series X GPU is masterace. PCI 3.0 SSDs are slow and couldn't play UE5 games with high quality assets like PS5 and a 2080 TI is less than a Series X. We'll have to wait more and more years before PC will be masterace again.
