Your chosen platform with Cyberpunk 2077?
This is going to be a "megathread" for discussions about the platform you're planning to or already did buy the game on. No reason to have multiple threads about the same topic just with a different angle in the OP.

I would like to know why people people buy on steam and not GoG. GoG you are giving 100% of your money to CD Projekt Red because they GoG. While steam is only 70%. Because steam takes a large cut for doing nothing. Honestly I would understand if Steam took like 10% - 15% tops. Yet 30% is way to much.

Really why would people not support CD Projekt Red?

Because people like all animals are creatures of habit, let's say for example GOG or EGS were made before Steam and had a lot more users, then people would buy games only on those store, they don't care about the price cut, people only care about what they are used to do and the older you get the harder it is to adapt to new things it's as simple as that.
No. Not that simple this time 😝

Again how does people buying on a different launcher affect you? Do you really think people buying ot on GOG is gonna change that? Don't be so delusional. Also there are no exclusives on PC as you pointed pointed out there's so many storefronts to buy the games on even if they don't come to steam. So mind your business how people spend their money, since you have no say kiddo
Yes it affect me too. It is voting by wallet called... If more people support Epic $hit for example, they got "signal" that they are doing right decissions and you will see more Epic exclusives... And I wrote it simple...
It's gonna happen whether you like it or not cause Ubisoft realised that not releasing Division 2 on Steam and putting it on Epic store caused sales of the Uplay version to go up and that's why they're not releasing their games on Steam anymore. I'm sorry if i've been rude to you but yes I hate Epic's shady ♥♥♥♥ too which is why i'll be waiting for BL3 to come to Steam at a discount before I buy, but Uplay and Origin i've always bought their games on those launchers because they charge in Australian currency and it's cheaper for me whereas Steam only recently released games in my currency but you have to be real as long as Epic has plenty of cash to throw around they'll always be ♥♥♥♥♥. You don't have to worry as Steam will be around cause like you I prefer most of my games on Steam like a lot of people do and publishers will eventually see that sales figures are down a lot when they release stuff on Epic.

When People like me, will not buy exclusives (despite a bit hype I told myself NO to Metro Exodus, and waiting for big sale after release on Steam 😝 ) maybe finally Devs will see that in long term it is not good for their titles... And the most twisted for me was, when they told if people don't buy their Metro on PC (because of EPiC!!!) they will not make next game! :steamfacepalm: But other Devs I hope are more smart...

Uplay/Origin will have thier exclusives, what I don't like but OK as those are their Studios creations... And people are acctually connected to this series like Fifa or Battlefield, like me, and all people who play this game are on one luncher/platform which acctually is good as Player Base is not divided between two platforms like with some CoD titles...And you need to decide where to play? Where are more players? But those are multiplayer games... Like CS or TF2 are exclusive on Steam... So it is better to be on one platform. And people don't hate Steam or Origin or Uplay because of those multi exclusives.

But problem is with SINGLE player games, like Metro. People should have choice where they want their game have. Uplay is with thier AC and FC series ok as you can have them on Steam or UPlay... And this is fair. And UPlay and Origin slowly evolved with thier lunchers and added some social and bonuses features, like those UPlay points which you can trade for discount! You can have friends there, play with them etc... But the most important is that you can choose. If UPlay would make next AC game as UPlay exclusive, I just would not buy it, just because of beeing exclusive! Despite that I have Uplay and some of games only on Uplay! But I had a choice where to buy them. And I can bet 100$ that there would more people like me! But Uplay is not Epic with Chinese Fortnite money and knows that people could really boycote their game if they done exclusive and Sale would not match...

So yes it matters where to buy...

P.S. Sorry I made wall of text 😐

You can on the GoG forums.
It's epic that doesn't have forums.

First off, what is GOG? Assuming it's a online game store like steam, you expect me to believe they are giving advertising, server space, and technical support for free?

It's called Good Old Games, it was originally a place to buy old hard to get games and it's really great at that. It expanded into a DLC free games market kinda like Steam.
CD Projekt own both GoG and Cyberpunk 2077, so yes, it's free for them apart from the operational costs.

I'm buying it on steam, because its got the same price tag here, almost my entire game collection is on steam, my friends are on steam, I game primarily on steam.

I am not about to go around, thinking myself clever and buying strategically, because that is just wishful bs. It doesn't account for anything.

I'm a consumer and as such, I'm going to buy at the storefront, whose services I use most frequently, whose products I purchase most often and that offers me the convenience I desire.

I have no loyalty, nor owe any, to any game developers or publishers, they aren't my friends, they aren't there to help me out, they are businesses. I have an equitable and satisfactory arrangement with Steam and the services it renders to me as a consumer.

If your in need of friends, time to stop looking for them in the form of corporate entities, even if said corporate entities produce games you enjoy.

Steam is just a better product, through and through. GoG has gone a long ways. But between Steam and GoG, GoG was the only company that pulled the plug and said they are closing down.

Buying on Steam yous till support CDPR. DRM free on Steam and GOG, Steam offers a better service. It's simple.
70% vs. 100% to the developer, almost one-third (33%)

The two services offer very similar features, pros and cons to both depending on what you want. It's not simple, some people just are.

Its actually like 15% or 20%. But anyway, you can support Steam so they can continue to provide an excellent service or you can support CDPR that makes one game every few years.

The GOG version of any game will always be superior due to one thing. You OWN the product. You don't need any client to launch a game. Whilst Steam, if your account gets hacked/banned or the servers shut down, you're f*cked.

You do know that GoG pulled the plug and lock people out of their 'drm free' games? Has steam ever done that?
