The third regular update for Rapture has been released! This update is primarily focused on introducing new content. More specifically this patch contains two new events, a new character with a unique gimmick, party randomization and a few new unlockable relics - plus a few noteable bug fixes.

New Event - Perfect Clear
A new type of event that appears on all layers past the first one as long as no player deaths have occured in battle. This event will raise all your attributes by 1 and allows you to learn the Perfect Strike, an ability that always scales off your highest attribute.

New Character - Tamamo, The Mimic
An intelligent fox with a talent for mimicry, Tamamo learns moves by directly observing enemies. Her only ability is "Imitate" which allows Tamamo to learn the last ability used by the target enemy. Abilities that are taught this way are always available to Tamamo however she can only learn up to 6 abilities in total. Once per floor, you may encounter a special event that allows Tamamo to reset any number of abilities.

New Event - Ability Reset
A unique event that occurs once per floor as long as Tamamo is in the party. This event will allow her to reset any number of abilities that she picked up back to "Imitate" for free.

New Feature - Randomize Party
You can now click "Randomize" during Party Selection and a new party will be generated for you. The game will attempt to create a balanced party composition by default, picking one character from the following categories: Healing, Defensive, Attacking and Utility.

New Unlockable Relics
Three new unlockable relics have been added to Rapture.

• Halo [+1 All Stats] - Whenever you receive a healing effect, raise one of your stats at random by 1 stage.
  Unlocked by encountering 5 Torii events.
  
• Harvester [+2 Special] - Whenever you use an ability against an non-elite enemy, deal extra damage equal to 1/6th of his current health. If the target has Fear then deal damage equal to 1/5th of his current health instead.
  Unlocked by incapacitating 400 enemies in total.
  
• Jack-o-Lantern [+1 Attack, +1 Special] - At the start of your turn you have a 50% chance to apply Fear to a random enemy for 2 turns.
  Unlocked by collecting 300 Relics in total.

Noteable Bug Fixes:
Fixed an issue with two Relic unlocks that required kills not working.
Fixed an issue with the Inventory screen's health display.
Fixed an issue with certain sounds ignoring sound volume levels.

The second regular update for Rapture is scheduled to be released tonight! This update contains a bunch of bug fixes and a new way to enjoy Rapture - Difficulty Settings!

There are currently two different levels of Difficulty, Easy and Normal mode. Normal mode is the default difficulty level of Rapture and it is designed to provide a fair challenge. However it can also be very punishing especially for newer players.

Easy mode is designed to provide a shorter and more relaxed game session. The enemies scaling is toned down significantly and the elite encounters are 15% weaker. This is also an ideal difficulty setting for new players or for experimentation.

In the future, I'm planning to add a way to directly modify how your run is generated as well. That would mean modifying the amount of enemies, relics and events that spawn - changing how enemies scale per encounter and raising the difficulty of boss fights.


Rapture now has a Demo available! If you've been on the fence about Rapture I suggest you give it a try. The demo will only let you go as far as the end of the first layer and you're limited to using 10 out of the 16 characters.
